ok other than the best two drops every1 knows A.K.A Tarmogoyf , Dark Confidant , Snapcaster Mage ,, Stoneforge Mystic and Storm Crow what do you guys think the best EVER 2 drop creatures are? i have my money on Bloodghast and Gatekeeper of Malakir (the latter arguably a 3 drop) and maybe Lotus Cobra
so what do u guys think?
Phantasmal Image ties all of them listed, and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is pretty ridiculous too. Can't forget good old Priest of Titania though.

hmm yeah those are pretty powerful.. im wondering, what does red have?
May 24, 2012 6:36 a.m.
Not the best ever, but I still think Warren Instigator is worth mentioning.
May 24, 2012 6:47 a.m.
its like Goblin Lackey on steroids lol.. but yeah i guess its one of the better red 2 drops
May 24, 2012 6:52 a.m.
I've heard Goblin Piledriver mentioned as the red part of the Mystic/Crow/Bob/Goyf/ cycle.
May 24, 2012 6:58 a.m.
pretty powerful, but probably only in a goblin deck i mean...
mystic can go in any deck with a sword...bob goes in almost any black deck..goyf is a reason people splash green sometimes, Storm Crow (yes i do not dae not tag it) is so powerful even wizards wont ban it. while le gobbie would only work in a gobbie deck, unless i missed something...
but neveryet its pretty powerful for a 2 drop

Goblin Piledriver may not even be the best goblin 2 drop. One could easily argue that Goblin Recruiter is more powerful. There's a reason the recruiter is banned in legacy. Outside of goblins however, red doesn't have a whole lot going for it in terms of creatures.
May 24, 2012 8:42 a.m.
I'm not a big legacy player but I find that Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is nice, though I'm also fond of combining Swiftfoot Boots and Grand Abolisher to make your turn all to yourself

Who can't resist the awesomeness that is Black Cat , aka the cat in your basement!
Personally I like Invisible Stalker . especially if you give him awesome buffs.

my favorite would have to be Nether Traitor , sacrifice is my favorite mechanic and this is the best combo card for my black decks and Saffi Eriksdotter is also one of my favorite cards outside of black, however most will say Gaddock Teeg is a much better general. then there is Mayor of Avabruck Flip .
May 24, 2012 12:22 p.m.
Gilded Drake , card:Painter's Servant anyone????? ya...these are definitely my top picks.
May 24, 2012 3:37 p.m.
Phantasmal Image is better than Guided Drake, but I defintiely have to say Painters servant beats thalia, usually. those are my top two.
May 24, 2012 3:48 p.m.
It's an Magic Joke, honestly not sure how it got started but he has become the most broken/overpowered card in the game in jokes.
Honestly it's pretty much the Chuck Norris joke of MtG
May 24, 2012 4:59 p.m.
For me, Spellskite is the best 2-drop defensive creature.
May 25, 2012 2:17 a.m.
Those four you two just said are also some of the most powerful. Im going to put together my top ten in no particular order
card:Painter's Servant
And of course, best combo enabler of all time, Storm Crow

While those mentioned are all definitely powerful, most of them only realized their potential after a long time. I mean look at Stoneforge mystic. Great card, but before Caw-blade it was going for like $5 and only recently saw eternal formats. The 2 drop that went straight into eternal formats though would have to be my top pick, Snapcaster Mage . Also Dark Confidant I hear is pretty good. Kiln Fiend was pretty good.
May 25, 2012 9:32 a.m.
Kiln Fiend is such a nice card.. makes the timmy in me smile
May 25, 2012 9:38 a.m.
Crap I forgot kiln fiend and snapcaster... but we're only ranking the non-obvious winners listed above, such as tarmogoyf and bob and snapcaster, etc. Kiln fiend can be a major win. Not a timmy card but more of a johnny card. Craterhoof behemoth makes da timmy smile. It's also pretty strong...

I'm personally a big fan of Gilded Drake and i find it arguably better than snapcaster.

The best green two drop ever is a hard decision. Most people would say tarmogoyf, but there is also scavenging ooze and wild mongrel. It's funny because scavenging ooze hoses both goyf and the mongrel. Personally, I would pick the ooze, but mongrel is an amazing enabler and tarmogoyf is the best threat in the legacy format. Red is a much easier choice. Red does not have many good two-drops, and so the choices are goblin piledriver and goblin recruiter, and since the recruiter can do some degenerate things I vote for it. Black is by far dark confidant. Bob is arguably the best card on the entire list. He produces so much advantage if he sticks. Blue is snapcaster mage, a four-of in almost all control decks since deathrite shaman has been banned. White is stoneforge mystic, because of batterskull. Colorless/artifact is arcboumd ravager. Its so good and degenerate at the same time. What do you guys think the best multicolored two drop is? There are so many good ones.

Eidolon of the Great Revel is an ideal card for any aggressive red deck

Young Pyromancer is probably the red Snapcaster Mage / Stoneforge Mystic . He has the ability to generate lots of value, while nullifying all of your opponent's 1-for-1 removal.
All of a sudden, pitching cards to Force of Will or whiffing on Cabal Therapy doesn't look so bad when you made a couple of 1/1's out of it. Lingering Souls and Raise the Alarm become insane.
I think the lack of good instants and sorceries in Standard has prevented him from really shining.
August 7, 2014 11:01 p.m.
There is no doubt young pyromancer is powerful, but he just isnt on the same level as turn three batterskull. Hermit druid is also a contender for the best green 2 drop. what are your favorites?

Goblin Bushwhacker - counts as a 2-drop with kicker.
Wins games, yo.

Way back when, I was always fond of White Knight and Black Knight . Of a more recent variety, Fleecemane Lion is pretty nuts for the cost.

Voice of Resurgence , Argothian Enchantress , Auriok Champion , Arcbound Ravager , Qasali Pridemage , Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary , Sakura-Tribe Elder , Genesis Hydra
August 8, 2014 11:42 a.m.
Spike Jester he can be easily taken out, but if your opponent doesn't have a blocker or a removal this is a great 3 to the face on turn 2
August 8, 2014 1:53 p.m.
It baffles me that Spike Jester didn't see more standard play. He sees some play in that new BR Modern Goblins though.
August 8, 2014 2:09 p.m.
Sylvan Caryatid is pretty good. An 0/3 blocker that taps for mana and cant be removed is pretty good.
Wall of Omens and Wall of Blossoms are also really good imo. An 0/4 wall that draws you a card is good.
Obviously these aren't the best, but people above took ideas XD

@Gemakai: There was a Rakdos haste deck floating around in my area for a while. Deck was ridiculous. It basically had all of the good creatures in Standard with haste...Spike Jester , Ash Zealot , Chandra's Phoenix , Mogis's Marauder , Rakdos Shred-Freak , etc. It was killing most control decks before they got to untap for a turn four.
I think the Mono-Black Aggro and Boss Sligh took over and people just felt like those were consistent enough. Those let you play four Mutavault . The B/R Aggro was really color intensive. You're going from turn one Tormented Hero into turn two Ash Zealot .
