Hey can I get some advice on what the best pod deck will be after rotation? I'm going to a state champs tournament next month and I don't know what to do. All advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I have been liking bant pod due to the interaction of pod and Phantasmal Image , Skaab Ruinator , and Sun Titan . These are like the trifecta. The only problem I'm having is finding suitable two drops. Invisible stalker, Viridian Emissary , and Myr Superion seem good. I like having Birds of Paradise and card:Avacyn's Pilgrim for turn 2 pods and just fodder for later. Geist of Saint Traft and Thrun, the Last Troll are also potentials. I've been fairly unimpressed with Solemn Simulacrum in the deck because he dies to so much and you don't really care to bock with him. Acidic Slime doesn't get any worse post rotation, and Sun Titan is what the deck has been needing. A sheoldred that doesn't need to stay in play for a turn to get value. The blue is also nice for counters, I've been testing Turn Aside even so they can't break your chain of creatures or destroy your pod. Ancient Grudge makes the deck much worse though, as does the potential popularity of Stony Silence .

BANT all the way, man. Venser, the Sojourner is so awesome with POD decks.

Depends. The beauty of a Birthing Pod deck is the versatility it gives. There will be no one birthing pod deck that is strictly better than others, it will depend on the meta. Although bant and bug pod seems popular.

Black gives you some good targets and discard, which is very beneficial, but Bant just seems to plow over the other builds with just as good targets and the addition of sun titan, blade splicer, and yes, venser.

It really all depends on what each pod deck finds to replace what they lost. Bant and bug pod both have to replace Sea Gate Oracle in the three drop spot while June pod is going to have to replace Abyssal Persecutor I'm personally going to play bug pod which I played at my last fnm and finished 11th I've also found that Bloodgift Demon is really good in the 5 drop spot

Dude, In almost every matchup, you'll want to go for Acidic Slime at the five drop. The three drop is secure in Skaab Ruinator , this card makes the deck so much more powerful. You get lots of guys in the Graveyard anyways, it is very efficient as a beater, it can be bought back off of Sun Titan . It survives Dismember . It is god.

@theburchman I agree Skaab Ruinator will be a beast in the three drop spot. Also yes Acidic Slime is amazing but there are times when having card advantage in the form of a 5-4 demon with flying is amazing and sometimes you don't have anything of importance to kill with the slime

Land destruction, bro. I've won games by:
Fetching a slime, killing a land
Imaging the slime, killing a land
Sac'ing the slime, exiling it with mimic vat, and then playing the token, killing a third land.

In bant pod, you don't care about the 5 drop being alive for long, you want to pod into sun titan as fast as possible. You are already taking lots of life loss in the early game and to your own pod for speed, so you might not even want bloodgift demon. He dies to dismember anyways, so he seems almost unplayable. The new 3 for 5 damage with morbid kills him, as does GFFT, which will see more play due to Skaab ruinator. The LD can also be powerful artifacts. Just casting an acidic slime through your ramping creatures is better than bloodgift imo.

Land destruction can be brutal with the Acidic Slime . Theres been games where Ive killed 5-6 land and pinned down my unimpressed opponent lol.
1x Hollowhenge Scavenger is a good 5 drop when you need it.
I disagree that its going to come down to who can replace what the most effectively. Its more likely that the better decks will completely change to make best use out of the new set & who knows, werewolf pod... (pod is a good way not to play spells for a turn)
Ill mention mono green pod as compeditive since no one else has.

It could be BANT or BUG pod...
