Birthing Pod Modern?
Deck Help forum

So, i really like the idea of using Birthing Pod as a deck theme for a modern deck, problem is, idk what creatures to use to buildup! I think Vorapede and Birds of Paradise are given, simply for the undying mechanic and the mana options. other than that idk. Is zombie pod B/W with Gravecrawler and card:Geralf's Messenger a better idea than running G/W? Is playing a tri-color the best idea? Will a pod deck even be workable for modern? Help please!
That's interesting, Would running something like Bloodthrone Vampire be advisable for infinite life gain? Is there a white copunterpart so i don't have to make a tri?

Along that note Glen Elendra Archmage , Murderous Redcap , River Kelpie , Twilight Shepherd , and Woodfall Primus are sometimes seen in these types of decks.
Woodfall Primus would make for a really nice cure topper as if you have a sac outlet you can do so infinitely with Melira, Sylvok Outcast out.

Blasting Station .... win... sac finks to ping finks re enters then resets blasting station.
Infinite life/damage on t4 without even poding.

Don't rely on the combo 100% though. In deck:domo-arigato-mr-roboto I have Torpor Orb in my sideboard JUST for pod decks.

What do you think of this? i literally just threw this together: Birthing Pod Modern

Another good pod deck in modern is Naya pod. I believe the combo is usually played by podding in or casting a Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker with a Restoration Angel on the battlefield, then make enough angels to swing for the win.

lets say i Birthing Pod into a Fiend Hunter , can i target a creature in my graveyard? cause then its like a non-black 2 cmc Reanimate . :)

You may not target a creature in your graveyard with Fiend Hunter so no...

lame :( it doesn't say where the creature has to be so i was really hoping it worked that way. oh well. :) moving on.

The fact that it doesn't say "creature card" is a tip off.

oh. haha, i didn't think of that. I'm more of a casual player so sometimes things like that aren't really apparent to me. sorry.

A common archetype is Birthing Pod actually. The most common "Combo" in pod is Melira, Sylvok Outcast + Kitchen Finks for some nasty lifegain effects. T2 her T3 finks T4 pod eating 4 life to pod finks off, persist triggers and you get the 2 life back (Back to 20) and you fetch a 4 drop. End result after all that? T4 tutor for a 4 drop with no life loss, a Kitchen Finks with no counters that can't really be killed (exiled yes but not killed) and Melira, Sylvok Outcast as a 2/2 for 2 cmc.
Persist in Pod decks is generally preferred to Undying for this reason and also the reason lots of decks will side in Torpor Orb so be packing some artifact removal.
One little loop I find funny is if you pod Kitchen Finks into Phyrexian Metamorph and copy Kitchen Finks you can pod that metamorph into another 4 drop (Another metamorph or Clone lol).
