Birthing Pod Tokens

Deck Help forum

Im working on a deck at the moment with a [Birthing Pod]] element to it.

The thought occured to me to sac a token (Specifically a thopter from thopter-assembly) to get something with a cmc of 1. I looked online and a few people were already doing this, then I looked in the rulebook and it says,

"202.1b Some objects have no mana cost. This normally includes all land cards, any other cards thathave no mana symbols where their mana cost would appear, tokens (unless the effect thatcreates them specifies otherwise),..."

So does it still work although a token has "no mana cost" rather than a cmc of zero?

Having no mana cost is the same as having a CMC of 0.

Many people also use Eldrazi spawn tokens because they are generated so easily.

This is also more of a rules question, so it belongs in Q&A.
