if I enchant Blistercoil Weird with Dual Casting , would you be able to cast the same instant/sorcery spell (like shock) spell for as many times as you have the land to pay? Why or why not?

The Deck Help forum is for requesting help with actual decklists. Questions like this should be asked in the Q&A.

Blistercoil Weird 's ability triggers when you cast an instant or sorcery spell. Dual Casting 's ability creates a copy of target instant or sorcery you control, but it doesn't cause you to cast the copy, so Blistercoil Weird 's ability won't trigger again. Effects only cause you to cast something if they specifically use the word cast.

Copying isn't the same as casting, so the Weirdo wouldn't untap. :( cool idea though. I was hopeful. Lol.

@10vernothin: Still won't work. Storm counts casts, not copies.

Wait, can't you choose the order that spells/copies of spells you cast resolve, allowing some sort of combo?

You can sort of do it. There is a limit though. I'm pretty sure it goes like this, but mayy be wrong

You have weird and dual casting out

Play lightning bolt, lightning bolt goes on the stack

Tap blistercoil weird to copy the spell

Original lightning bolt is cast - untaps blistercoil

Tap to copy again before spell resolves

You get two copies of the spell because you are able to copy it while it's still on the stack before and after it's considered 'cast'.

Works well with Manamorphose

Deviljoel: while you idea mostly works, that is not how the rules actually work. The correct way is:

1: Cast Lightning Bolt
2: Blistercoil Weird 's triggered ability goes on the stack above the bolt.
3: Tap the weird to use the Dual Casting ability to copy the bolt, copy goes on top of stack.
4: Let the copy of Lightning Bolt resolve.
5: Let the untap ability resolve.
6: Tap the weird again for Dual Casting . The copy of the bolt goes on top of the stack.
7: Let 2nd copy of bolt resolve.
8: Let original bolt resolve.

@ZarBluestar: No.

The original spell is cast, and Blistercoil Weird 's ability triggers. In response, you activate its Dual Casting ability. The spell is copied, and the copy goes on top of the stack (above the original spell and the Blistercoil Weird 's ability). You can't rearrange these objects. I also don't see a combo here. You could theoretically use Dual Casting and Hidden Strings to generate infinite copies of Hidden Strings , but those copies would never exist on the stack at the same time, and they wouldn't really accomplish anything. Storm doesn't count them.

@Deviljoel: Your definition of cast is wrong. A spell becomes cast when its casting process is complete. Blistercoil Weird 's ability triggers and will be put onto the stack directly after the original spell is cast.
