Is there a card out there in M14 or the RtR block that can easily replace Evolving Wilds besides Lay of the Land? Lay of the Land costs mana while Evolving doesn't, which is why I'm asking.. Also, are there any other cards that tap for white mana so far out? Hopefully there will be better cards for me to use when Theros comes out...

Man, I really hope that Theros will show up with something that I need. I'm currently already running gates... Maybe instead of running basics I should just switch to all shocks and gates.. That's more expensive, though :P

Gates are only good if you aren't running a fast deck. If you're doing tempo or control, you can get away with it, but aggro needs untapped lands. Sure, the mana fixing may not be amazing, but honestly, just use the checklands (unless you don't have them, then its not worth investing in now). Theros will bring dual lands, so you don't NEED to build with basics at all really.

Depending on what dual lands Theros brings and how playable they are, I might just sac the idea of gates altogether. They're slower than basics; the only reason I use them is they're, as me and my group like to call them, the poor man's shocks. I'm just waiting for Theros to bring in cards. I'm antsy about it; I'm already trying to figure out what cards should replace the ones in my deck that are rotating out.

Shimmering Grotto isn't actually that bad. Brad Nelson from SCG says he's actually tried it in some standard decks and it's obviously not as good as shocks and such, but it does the job. And it was reprinted in M14 :)

Hmm, Shimmering Grotto wouldn't be that bad of an idea.. That way if I don't have the lands out that I need, I can substitute.. thanks!

There isn't any Evolving Wilds type card, but shock lands and gates should fill the color fixing needs.
