Blood Baron of Bitch-zkopa!! :(
Deck Help forum

HOW. DO. I. GET. RID. OF. IT. I'm playing G/B midrange at the moment, and well. I went 2-2 at FNM last night, why? Blood Baron of Vizkopa That's why. That one card alone screwed me out of 3 games, causing me to get swept once, and ultimately destroying my chance at placing. There has to be some other way to kill it other than big green fatties like Polukranos, World Eater He did the job a couple times, and even got a few slaughters in on the ole Blood Baron, but overall, he just couldn't do it. Any ideas? I feel like Esper is my weakness at the moment and I played 2 Esper decks last night, being as though its practically a staple for Esper I just couldn't do it. And yes the 2 losses I had were from those 2 decks. :L Any ideas?!!
Yeah, well a 4/4 with pro white and black doesn't exactly make things any easier, I need it off the board once it's there. Plummet would be nice if I top decked it in the last couple of turns, OR it could just get Thoughtseize 'd or Duress 'd out of my hand on turn one...

Option 1: Splash Red for Mizzium Mortars .
Option 2: Cry
Option 3: SPLASH BLUE FOR Trait Doctoring TO REMOVE HIS PROTECTIONS AND Doom Blade FUCK YEA

I wouldn't run Plummet anyways, I would use Aerial Predation I've already contemplated that.
January 4, 2014 5:59 p.m.
Why on earth would you run Aerial Predation over Plummet

I attempted splashing red for Mizzium Mortars , but it ultimately failed and made my deck inconsistent. I strongly believe crying is my only option at this point :c

You could just focus on the preemptive strike and Thoughtseize the hell out of them.

Pit Fight isn't a bad idea. That could work, but how many should I main board? Or just side board them for when I come up against Esper or anyother deck playing B/W.

I'm going to have to post it since I re-made it last night. I'll do that real quick, I like Devour Flesh to an extent, but it either gets ripped away, or by that team they could just have 1/1 tokens out from Elspeth, Sun's Champion and sack those.

So you need to save up your Devour Flesh s for the right moment. Use your Hero's Downfall on the planeswalkers and follow up with Devour Flesh s. It's a hard matchup but you can do it if you play it right.

I would say Thoughtseize is probably your best bet against that matchup anyway. If you tear away their wincons (Ellie, BBoV, and AEtherling ) they're pretty much just gonna sit there until they run out of steam.

Bah. Dumb nicknames. Anyways, Thoughtseize is your friend, though it bit expensive.

I second Plummet as well. It can hit dessie and stormbreath too.

I'm definitely willing to try these out, taking everything into consideration! Here's my deck link! Please read the description before you jump on my creature bases xD Golgari Midrape.

Definitely taking all this into consideration! I'm willing to try anything, here's a link to my deck! Golgari Midrape. Please read the description before you jump on my creature bases :) It did surprisingly well with everything but Esper, even tore apart a B/W aggro deck during the mid games, it's not as bad as it looks xD

Golgari Charm to remove Elspeth tokens, then Devour Flesh or even Away of Far / Away .

Devour Flesh is likely going to be your best bet, aside from the preemptive Thoughtseize . I'm not sure why everybody's dicks are hard for Plummet ; most of the time, Blood Baron of Vizkopa doesn't get into the air before you're even dead (like, you know, when you damage to your opponent and their life doesn't rise to 30).
And otherwise, there probably aren't any other creatures with Flying in their deck, so Plummet is completely dead unless you happen to find yourself already losing badly.

Yuhp, kinda how I see it, that's why I originally shot down the idea of Aerial Predation Just gunna stick with Devour Flesh 's and maybe give a couple of Pit Fight 's a shot.

I'd say just sb Devour Flesh
Last night I played against a Dimir brew that ran
They cast a Triton Tactics
They copied my Blood Baron of Vizkopa then made me sac it, it was very impressive. I brought that game back from one 1 due to an inexperienced player, I was almost playing the deck for them, I orchestrated the play based on the spells they happen to cast (they only chose one target with the tactics at first, I corrected them). Had I been playing a more competent player I can see that match going to that deck.

By the time Plummet could hit the one, if not multiple Blood Baron of Vizkopa they have out, an Esper deck will have 30+ life, and will have not cast Supreme Verdict by choice for multiple turns as they have a resolved Blood Baron in play. Plummet does not stop blood baron.
Plummet does hit Stormbreath Dragon and Desecration Demon so there are other reasons to consider the card, just not for Blood Baron.

Fight effects are probably your most sure-fire way of removing him. Pit Fight , Time to Feed , Hunt the Weak and Mutant's Prey are all currently in Standard.
Devour Flesh works, as well, but it has that previously stated issue.Alternatively, get a Whip of Erebos and outrace your opponent. No, really. If you have a way of gaining life consistently, Blood Baron of Vizkopa stops being such a huge threat. Keep in mind that you can also play Erebos, God of the Dead . That'll stop the lifelink, which also helps immensely when dealing with a Blood Baron.
January 4, 2014 8:30 p.m.
Picked up 3 Devour Flesh an 2 Pit Fight Imma give them a shot, how do you think I should set them up, should I play both of them in the main, should I SB both all of them? What?

Bramblecrush also hits everything else. And its mana cost is slightly irrelevant as A) BB costs more so chances are youll be at 4 mana B) "replace" a heros downfall slot if cant afford or find room C) inc olors

Devour Flesh will wreck a Blood Baron 70% of the time against Esper. A lot of kids that play Esper at FNM suck at MTG, but they have a lot of money to blow, so they buy the most expensive deck. That being said, most of the time, they'll tap out for a Blood Baron turn 5, then voila.
