Blustersquall or Glaring Spotlight?

Here's the deck: A... Different... Grixis Control

So, I like Glaring Spotlight because it protects my creatures as well as making my Master of Cruelties unblockable. It's important that Sire Of Insanity stays alive because that's what creates the "control."

But, I like Blustersquall as a combat trick and allow Master of Cruelties to get through or simply to protect myself for a turn.

Basically, is protection from removal better than "protection" from creatures?

I'm also trying to fit bolas in the deck so suggestions on that are also appreciated. And if you could post on the deck page, that would be wonderful. Thanks in advance guys!

You can always sideboard your Glaring Spotlight . Blustersquall is pretty decent at getting your guys through. Like you said it can save you a turn as well.

Blustersquall is not a combat trick. The best time to cast it is during your opponent's upkeep (i.e. between untap and draw) as it will be harder to respond to. Tapping is a "cost" of declaring an attacker and so tapping it again will not remove it from combat. Even casting ti at upkeep your opponent could activate abilities that require a tap in response to your casting of Blustersquall . Casting it during your first main phase is mostly a waste.

But also, spotlight would be on the field whereas squall might be discarded...

Blustersquall all the way, Glaring Spotlight is decent card but far to narrow and doesn't do enough at all

What do you mean "far too narrow"

I'd run Mizzium Skin and Artful Dodge , maybe even AEtherize if you can bait an attack over either for those intentions, but between the two I prefer blustersquall.

Though, if the deck really centers around the sire, what you want is things you can drop into play for your combat tricks, so perhaps the spotlight IS better here. You really should be running a playset of Madcap Skills and any other enchantments that'll help your dudes through
