Boros Aggro balancing help.

Deck Help forum

I've got a Boros Aggro deck I've put together that has really been working well thus far. It's based on heroic triggers and making one creature beefy enough to deal lethal by turn 5 every time.

I've got a decent balance between protection spells and offense spells, but I want to make sure it's the right balance between creatures, offense, and defense. Keep in mind this deck is completely based on only having one creature out, so overloading creatures isn't necessary.

Let me know what you guys think about the ratios, and if you think there are any better cards than what I have included. Thanks!

If you're going to go all-in Ethereal Armor is likely better than some mixture of the combat tricks.

I initially built the deck with both Ethereal Armor and Eidolon of Countless Battles in it. But they didn't work very well. Ethereal Armor takes other enchantments to build up and enchantments are more expensive than instants, slowing the deck down for not much more benefit.

If playtesting says otherwise it's your deck, but I don't see how say swapping 4 Martial Glory to 4 Ethereal Armor would possibly slow the deck down. Or if the double heroic is too valuable Coordinated Assault . I think anything to keep the cost of your spells down is preferable since always keeping Brave the Elements and Gods Willing is going to be key to avoiding getting blown out.

Heroes of the Legion is my boros heroic aggro deck. I find that it's super weak to mono black, since Devour Flesh absolutely destroys the voltron approach, and they often have more removal than you have Gods Willing /Boros Charm . I would think about trying to have multiple creatures on board at once, put your eggs in multiple baskets. Making a single creature powerful enough to kill them is, well, powerful, but it's a glass cannon. One misfire, and your whole deck falls apart.

Yeah, I already figured mono-black would be the worst matchup for the deck, but thankfully only one person in my local FNM plays it. Everyone else plays uw control or gruul monsters, both of which are easily beatable by the deck.

I find I also have problems with Boros Reckoner s, though I don't know if that is a problem in your meta. Also, Ethereal Armor is really good. First strike is pretty good, and they stack so well in multiples. And you can still use them effectively while spreading them around.

Like I said, I tried the ethereal armor route and it just wasn't as effective. Enchantments are more expensive and your opponent knows exactly whats coming. With a more instant and heroic trigger focus I can ramp very quickly and hugely for the turn and keep the permanent counters, and clear my opponent's board by baiting them into blocking when they think they have the advantage but don't.

Totally just realized I never linked the deck. Lol I'm a derp. Turn 5 wins: 60% of the time, every time.
