Break the Cage

Deck Help forum

In my deck, Zombie Loop, I can make infinite damage. My problem is that when ever someone plays Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage on turn one, my deck is rendered useless. The deck is blue and black and I don't want to add in red cards just for it. What is the best solution?

Mental MisstepMTG Card: Mental Misstep or Steel SabotageMTG Card: Steel Sabotage.

Or just live with the fact that you're playing an extremely fragile deck.

Agreed.

Any bounce spell would work though as you just need it to be gone for 1 turn to win if you can manage to assemble the combo.

If they get it turn one, you get screwed. I'd say bounce it and have a NegateMTG Card: Negate ready, or another counter that isn't Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak. Really that's all you can do with just those colors, aside from making them discard it (but with it costing 1, I doubt you could get to a Night TerrorsMTG Card: Night Terrors or similar before they get it out, unless you get a lucky Black CatMTG Card: Black Cat dicard).

Steel SabotageMTG Card: Steel Sabotage seems best, and alter your play style to suit your goals. If you're banking on the combo to win, and you anticipate getting locked in the Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage a lot, then wait patiently- assemble your combo so that everything is in place. Wait for your opponent to tap out or expose himself in some way, then bounce the cage and slaughter him. If your opponent doesn't know you can break the cage and kill him, you have the advantage.

Oh and Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb will deal with it nicely as well.
