Budget substitute for Aether Vial

In the deck Merfolk, I'm looking for a buy able substitute for AEther Vial , something that'll increase speed in the same fashion. Any suggestions?

Aye, that does make sense meecht, the problem is, pretty much all my cards in that deck are 4 CMC or lower, so I may as well just leave the amulet and play the card itself.
Bleeeh, I'd love to deck that merfolk deck in to Modern Constructed, but I don't want to pay out 50 for the vials. D:

You want to play meefolk without vial. Its very hard as vial is the best card in the deck and allows for so many good plays. Stuff comes out that cant be countered coming out at instant speedand you have lots of mana to work with. Thats why fish needs it. Its almost like playing combo without one of the combo peices. Sorry to say, you just need to get them if modern fish is your desire.

If you wait for Modern masters hopefully it will have vials.

Hopefully <3 I don't know though, aggro already has a lot of help, with vials being one mana, you could rape everything by putting it in an aggro deck.

Seriously though, if you pick up vials it'll be a good investment regardless. If you want to play goblins in legacy or modern, or merfolk in the same formats, it's a great card. It also is integral to legacy Death and Taxes and modern Death and Taxes/Hatebears.

Oh definitely AEther Vial has a ton of uses, I'd just be using a lot of my spare cash if I went and got a playset.
Plus, if it DOES come out in Modern Masters, I'd be raging for weeks.

My suspicion is that if it comes out in Modern Master, it'll have its rarity bumped up. Still, that's a good plan. I'm gonna pick up 2 boxes minimum...

Modern masters wont effect prices that much. WOTC has said time and again it wont be a very long print run. I predict prices to go down just slightly and then continue rising again.

Cards are expensive because there are no other options for the same effect. The closest, cheapest alternative I could think of would be Quicksilver Amulet .
