I want to play Jund, but I honestly can't afford to shuck out $80 for a playset of these bad boys Stormbreath Dragon , but they are seriously one of the stars in Jund atm, any ideas for substitutions? It's a bit like Matt Costa's deck from GP Providence, I need a cheap substitution! Any ideas?!
Link to Matt's deck as well: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=60976

If you're trying to make a 3-color deck in Standard, you can't really gripe about the price. When you decide to play 3 colors, it's likely that you're doing it to run the best cards from each of them. The best cards always come with a significant price tag. And that's not counting the lands.
3 color decks aren't meant to be budget-friendly.
(Yes, there are budget ways to build a mana base, but those almost always make the deck objectively worse)

Not really griping, I just can't afford a playset the card, and I'd really like to play Jund. I understood the price factor when I started the build. I'm still allowed to ask xP

No other cards in Standard are truly comparable to Stormbreath. I'd recommend Reaper of the Wilds but it's already in the build.
You could try going aggressive with efficient creatures and Varolz, the Scar-Striped . Polukranos' very existence makes Varolz better than he used to be. And you can get some big damage in quickly if you pair him with Dreg Mangler .

they were at $35 for awhile lol, try and trade up, im always trading for things i dont need, that are more valuable then the pieces im trading away, which in turn gives me more power in the next trade.
There really isnt a substitute for what it does, but you could always drop down to less copies and hope you draw him lol, another reaper will help you dig, Desecration Demon will demand answer or eat up opponents board and is 1/2 the price, but no pro white, no haste
