I am currently building a pauper EDH deck. I would like to know if Blaze Commando would be a good choice as a commander. Pauper EDH rules state any uncommon, non legendary or common card can be used as commander. What would be another red/(x)color commander to use if it isn't the best?

Well it's not in your colors, but Gray Merchant of Asphodel would be absurd lol.

He seems WAY to expensive for pauper EDH. It is a very tempo based format, a lot of decks have an average cmc of like 1.5, a cmc 5 commander is probably not the way to go. I recommend Sunhome Guildmage for RW tokens.

the thing is though, with y commander, it's a passive effect; it happens on and off the field. I get two tokens per instant/sorcery (and THEIR avg cost is 1.5). Sunhome Guildmage is it's own mana effect, only gives me the 1 token, and is just over all worse

Asher18, are you saying that the effect occurs even when commando is the the command zone? In which case, you're wrong. The text only applies when he is on the battlefield, after you've payed 3RW.

Abilities of cards are only active when on the battlefield unless otherwise stated. An example of an ability that works both on the battlefield and in the command zone is Oloro, Ageless Ascetic

Thanks for the clarification. While I dmit he moght not have been the best commander, what would another suitable commander of R/W be?

I think that Blaze Commando is the only decent commando in R/W after searching on gatherer. Although looking at your deck, you need to cut some of the lackluster cards, such as Suntail Hawk . Also the deck itself runs almost no burn spells, so I have no idea how you'll ever use his ability though. Definitely cut all the random enchantments and run more burn.
Otherwise, If you want to run some enchantment, voltronish deck, then run someone like Hearthfire Hobgoblin and throw a ton of enchantments on him.

Basically Two-Headed Cerberus fulfills the same roll. The enchantments go to boost cards link Suntail Hawk and Two-Headed Cerberus . Note how many of the enchantments have first strike. I have Lightning Strike and Bolt of Keranos in there, and that's just off the top of my head.

Just looked at the deck again... Those are the ONLY burns you're running... you have 2 cards that benefit your general.
Plus I just dont understand why you would go for enchantments in R/W when G/W has so many better auras... Rancor , Ethereal Armor , Armadillo Cloak , Hyena Umbra , Unflinching Courage .. etc. Also theres the creatures that actually benefit from them, such as the new heroic creatures, and cards like Gladecover Scout and Silhana Ledgewalker that aren't so easily killed.
Its just that you want R/W, but are using a theme that is just superior in other colors.

Off the top of my head, Aura Gnarlid and Gatherer of Graces are decent, theres probably something better though. Ancestral Mask would also be absurd.

Early printings of Rancor were actually at common, so it is a pauper legal card.

Well if you want to go with the token route, you could perhaps use someone like Sigil Captain , then play a bunch of Saproling and knight token cards.
Otherwise, just something that gets massive when you enchant it like Marisi's Twinclaws , and you don't even have to include all 3 of those colors.

Well if you are trying to make it a R/W token deck, I think that one is best.
