Which 1 drop is a better Simic drop?
Cloudfin Raptor , Young Wolf , or Experiment One ?
I have 3 different playsets in paper that are all vying for a spot in Everlasting Vorapede. where the point is to make my field as hard to remove as possible and do some nifty things at the same time.
Cloudfin Raptor is in the lead at the moment strictly because of his flying but Experiment One and Young Wolf are both good choices as well.
Cloudfin Raptor Pros: Flying, can grow to goyf-like size, and off P/T evolves easier than same P/T. Cons: 0/1 can't attack without the assistance of evolve or enchantments and U on T1 followed by GG on T2 can be difficult.
Young Wolf Pros: Undying and G is easy on T1. Cons: Can only get to 2/2, no flying, doesn't evolve much in the deck list.
Experiment One Pros: Can grow to be large, regenerate for a cost, G is easy on T1, and same P/T so can have difficulty evolving. Cons: No flying
What are your thoughts? Feel free to leave other ideas on the deck as well.
Maybe skip using a full playset and instead go 2 cloudfin 2 wolf. I agree the regen seems steep on experiment one, but I haven't seen it in action so I'm not sure.

I've played Experiment One before and it usually gets killed before I can drop two more powerful creatures to give it enough counters to regenerate. If it was 1 counter to regenerate, it'd be more useful.

I don't generally like to do 2/2 splits on creatures. I'd rather do a playset. The reason I don't like Young Wolf is because it has a really hard time triggering evolve on some of the other creatures.

The Regenerate on Experiment One is really good. It will reset his P/T, but in an aggressive build being able to recover from Supreme Verdict is invaluable. He can always Evolve again and swing for 2 on a probably empty board.

between Cloudfin Raptor and Young Wolf , I'd say the difference would be what else is in the deck.
Can you manipulate/remove +1/+1 counters? That favors Young Wolf ... probably ... unless you can manipulate lots and lots of counters ...Do you have enough high P/T creatures to use evolve more than a few times? That favors Cloudfin Raptor

So far I have 1 vote for Young Wolf and 1 vote for Experiment One . (Only counting definitive votes.)

Cloudfin raptor because you'll accumulate counters more quickly that you can use to draw cards with Zameck + it'll be marginally useful mid game whereas Young Wolf quickly becoems redundant. Also it will be your only flier so it will at the very least provide some chump blocking against enemy flying (or at best evolve enough to be a nice 3/4 threat). Young wolf is great because you can exploit the undying but it's weak as a creature and has limited potential. Cloudfin is your opportunity to fill a hole in the deck

The regenerate cost is too high on Experiment One imo. Young Wolf seems like the best choice since Cloudfin Raptor almost requires you to drop it immediately to be useful.
