Control in Return to Ravnica

What are everyone's opinions on control in standard, with RtR on the way?

I'm brewing a brutal control build, and honestly, am glad that they're nerfing counter-based strategies using Snapcaster Mage like they are. Delver of Secrets  Flip and Steampunk Megaman are good, we get it.

I think control isn't dead, one just has to be a little more creative.

I feel like mass board control is going to be important if populate Selesnya decks get off the ground, and against Rakdos based fatties/Heartless Summoning decks.

Honestly though, I'm new to competitive Magic, and my opinion may not be worth much. Anyone have any input?

I think that without being able to control the stack early game, and with card:Geralf's Messenger and Lotleth Troll being two-or-more-for-ones, control will struggle against zombies, and with Abrupt Decay , o-ring and Detention Sphere won't be as good in the maindeck (they'll still be good, just not great).

Wrath effects are also quite lacking. in terms of cheap efficient wraths we have bonfire, Mutilate and Supreme Verdict , of which only mutilate guarantees the death of everything in a zombie deck.

However, I feel that a midrange that incorporates green, blue, and white to get cheap fatties (Loxodon Smiter ) and some life gain (card:Sphinx's Revelation, Thragtusk ), which are all great against aggro, zombies especially.

If you feel like, you can check out my deck idea : Golden Midrange. It plays similarly to a control deck that you describe, but is fast enough to hold it's own against a decent amount of the new standard.

Oh, here's a neat site that lists 48 new decklists for RtR standard, a few of which are indeed control, if you want to have a look.

Here's a look at my deck I plan on running after rotation. So far in testing it has proved decent results against aggro decks. Its my spin off of solar flare so I guess you could say its a control deck. The deck is here deck:esper-green
