could you build a standard life gain deck

i noticed that not to many standard cards gain you life, can i build a life gain deck in standard or will i have to do modern?
In my opinion the best way to build a competitive lifegain deck would be to run an extort deck with Sanguine Bond . But lifegain in Standard isn't really a win con as a way to get to your win con, which would probably be Blood Baron of Vizkopa or Obzedat, Ghost Council .

most of those cards are what it does after you gain the life. what cards gain you the life?

I'm not sure what you mean. Fiendslayer Paladin has lifelink, Unflinching Courage gives lifelink, Ordeal of Heliod is a big gainer, Path of Bravery gains you life for each creature you attack with...
I may add an Archangel of Thune somewhere down the line but the 5cmc on her is a strong deterrent.

Honestly with Mono-Black doing so well it's not really viable. Erebos, God of the Dead is at least a 1 of in Mono-Black, with at least 1 more SB, and he just shuts lifegain down.

That's why I sideboard a couple Fade into Antiquity . Erebos isn't all that common and there is an answer in these colors.

You could do it, lifelink and there are m14 cards that trigger of life gain (Angelic Accord I'm looking at you) and give life, like Sphinx's Revelation . But modern would be better, since Rhox Faithmender and Serra Ascendant are there, look at the soul sisters build, they are really aggro lifegain decks.
