Counter-Burn Help (Modern)

So, I'm trying to create a counter-burn deck that can hold its own in the Modern metagame. I'm not looking for high tier quality here, but I'd like the deck to run smoothly and solidly. Any thoughts and aid would be useful.

@ Slycne I agree. After testing the deck again tonight I'm less than thrilled with Guttersnipe , such is trial and error. There were games where he sat in hand and did jack squat, but then there were games were it helped win a lot faster. Overall, there was a lack of consistency.
As for Grim Lavamancer it's something to consider. I like the ability, but I'm also worried about the interference with Snapcaster Mage . I'll try and run something tomorrow and see how it pans out.

While I see the synergy, I think Guttersnipe is just much too weak to stand up solidly to modern. Considering the counter-burn style, there's just too many things you can't tap out main phase T3 for a 2/2 whose ability won't be relevant for a few turns. For instance, a resolved Kitchen Finks is going to give you fits, speaking of which Magma Spray in the sideboard.
I think Grim Lavamancer is a much better card in that slot. It largely fills the same role, and it can shoot down other creatures as well. It's a little bit of nombo with Snapcaster Mage , but you should be casting enough spells and fetch lands that they won't get in each others way too much.
