Deck around Intrepid Hero and Rancor possible?

Would it be possible to design a deck around an interaction between Intrepid Hero and Rancor ?

The main problem I can see is that Intrepid Hero is a 1/1, making him VERY easy to remove. As a 3-drop, your opponent will have a lot of removal options by the time you could use him. Even if he was given haste by Racecource Fury, he would only remove 1 creature before your opponent removes him.

You could make several token versions of him via Seance or Cackling Counterpart and populating them, hopefully making more copies than your opponent can remove. However, this strategy can be wiped out by Detention Sphere , Sever the Bloodline , or even Golgari Charm .

I probably answered my own question, but is there something I'm missing that could make it plausible?

Sure, it's a combo, and it's slightly more reusable than Rancor + Selesnya Charm , but it's also very flimsy as you stated. You're probably better off just running all of the spells you mentioned that counter him.

That being said, if you want a reusable removal package in a casual deck, this one could work. Most G/W builds right now just don't have the room for a creature that's so slow/squishy.

It's a fun combo, but one of the problems with this type of interaction is that it's useless against control decks that don't run many (if any) creatures. I could imagine running 1 Intrepid Hero in a deck that's already running Rancor , but that's about it.

If you want to kill dudes with dudes, Nightshade Peddler + Izzet Staticaster also has potential. I want to run this one just so I can see the look on the opponent's face after they Entreat the Angels for x=12...

In a G/W deck as long as you're running Arbor Elf , and card:Avacyn's Pilgrim you're good to go. As you'll get him out on turn 2. I think its a reasonable combo and provides great potential. Since one of your combo pieces is critical already to a green deck. It certainly won't be something to build around due to his flimsiness, but it seems that it will still be worthwhile to have in the deck.

Also look out for Electrickery .

A good way to counter a lot of things that have been brought up would be Intangible Virtue , if you wanted to splash some white.
