Decks for New Players
Deck Help forum

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice for creating a first deck. I'm currently playing my first games with a Red/Blue deck (essentially the intro set with a few (supposed) improvements).
I haven't been struggling too much to figure out what I'm doing, but most of my friends and and other players are saying that I should be working with a deck that is more friendly to new players.
This leaves me wondering if there is a "best" color(s) or even a specific deck that is noob-friendly.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks! I'll consider that.
For clarification: are you suggesting mono decks?

Not necessarily. Mono is easier to learn, especially for deckbuilding, but any player can start on any deck. Just with varying success.

Red goblins. That's the deck you want. I got beat once at an fnm by a guy that learned how to play like 30 minutes prior using his gf's red goblin deck. They're really straight forward and, honestly, really good decks. Personally I also think black vampires is pretty easy to learn from too though, imo. But Vamps are kind of expensive. Goblins can get a little pricey too though for a really good one.

Think of the color you want to run, then think of how you want to play and win, Find the cards that do that, build around that.
Say you wanted to run a life gain deck. You would find all the cards that would be good for it thorugh trial and error or research and seem to narrow down ideas. Get some playsets as well, The less randomness in your deck, the more youll find cards that you need, when you need them.
Lol thats why I have 4 day of judgements, cuz I beleive Ill need to play them alot.
And sure its easy to play red, But you learn your cards as you play them, I started with a Blue, White, and black build, Its just a suggestion.
Pick a color and go from there :D

Aggro is the easiest type of deck to play but perhaps not to build (aggro being when you win by dealing lots of damage quickly) I would suggest red goblins or white weenie you can google either deck type to get an idea of good decks (this website is a fantastic resource) also ask the person at your local shop for some help.
I found the Metalcraft Scars of Mirrodin Intro Deck was a very good start when my gf was learning to play its components make a good red deck.

My personal opinion is that red is probably the easiest color to learn. Green comes shortly after, then white. Black is second hardest and blue is hardest, in terms of learning curve and difficulty of technically correct use. The reason being is that black and blue require much more knowledge of game mechanics and the stack in order to reach their full potential.
My advice depends on your relative learning curve as well as what mistakes you make most often.
