Detain/Exile deck in standard?

Hi, I am currently wanting to make a detain/exile deck for standard and I would like to know if it would be even worth it to go for it. I would hate to waste my money for a deck that won't do much. If you say yes, please state why it would work, if no, please state why not. If I get positive feedback I will commence with making one and posting it on Tapped Out ASAP! Thanks!

It's not clear what you mean by a detain/exile deck. Exile is just a removal variant usually, and detain is not a build around me mechanic. Are you trying to build an aggro deck, a control deck, or a midrange deck? U/W aggro is currently going for more of a Heroic build, and detain doesn't really synergize well with that. U/W control has better things to do than detain, but Detention Sphere is a key part of it. U/W midrange isn't really a thing.

Overall, detain is not a particularly competitive mechanic, and exile really depends on the cards. Neither is a great thing to build a deck around.

Why not build it on TappedOut first and see if you like it before buying the cards?

I have built a proxy of it, and am tempted to put it on Tapped Out, but wanted to see what people think before getting ridiculed for it not being viable. The idea is to slow your opponent to a halt with detain and exiling, but I'll just put it up in the next few minutes and if you wouldn't mind please have a look at it.

It depends on what you're exiling and or detaining, generally Detention Sphere takes care of exiling creatures quite well, Banisher Priest also exiles creatures but dies to burn and creature removal....exile spell like Gild aren't exactly cost efficient, and things like Fade into Antiquity only exile certain things. Detain is good only if your going to take advantage of it by attacking or playing a good spell or something as it only last one turn, otherwise Pacifism or Arrest are what you want, tho they don't slow down devotion decks which are a problem right now. There is Martial Law which lets you detain once a turn, but is also not cost efficient while also not slowing down devotion at all, and in that sense you're better playing kill spells. I can't say the deck will be very competitive, but if you're really keen on making it work youd want to play it in Bant or Esper colors
