Disciple of Bolas pairing?

Currently I was thinking of pairing Disciple of Bolas with Scavenge and Dredge creatures such as Deadbridge Goliath and Grave-Shell Scarab , but would it be better paired with Undying and Persist? (imo, persist decks should always be ran with Melira, Sylvok Outcast , but I'm trying to splash red for AEther Rift and Faithless Looting )
I'm a little worried about flyers, so I gravitated towards Stinkweed Imp , which is why I am leaning more towards scavenge/dredge. I know Aerie Ouphes is an option, but I don't feel comfortable having a 3 damage fling be my only threat against flyers. Demonlord of Ashmouth is a bloody alternative, and Vengeful Vampire has high CMC. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.
Disciple of Bolas + Heartless Summoning + Havengul Lich was a deck I used to run. Good fun.

Disciple of Bolas works well in Exalted decks. Attack, get +3-5 per attack (even its chump blocks) and that stays there for Main Phase 2.
Another combo is bounce tricks to get continued draw (provided you have the sac outlets) like Restoration Angel , Cloudshift , etc.

oh nice Exalted didn't even occur to me. Can you blink a creature you're sacrificing and still get the life gain and card draw?
Sorin and Havengul Lich are really good with the disciple, though I don't want to worry too much about mana fixing and originally thought of black/green. I'll see. Thragtusk is a little more expensive than I was shooting for.
I might make two versions: one standard and one legacy "just for fun". It started with frustration that I couldn't get AEther Rift to work well, then I tried adding black for graveyard manipulation.

You cannot blink a sacrifice. You can blink the Disciple of Bolas to be able to reactivate his ETB trigger though. You would just need multiple sacrifice outlets like Lingering Souls (only 1 draw) or Alms Beast as a 6 draw for 4 mana.

I find Disciple of Bolas to work really well with Sorin, Lord of Innistrad 's emblem. I'm guessing the deck you are trying to build isn't standard so I can't really offer anything else.
It works quite well in standard though, especially when you pair it with things like Geralf's Messenger , Thragtusk and Lingering Souls .
