Do counters add to a creature power upon sacrifice?

For example if i played Unbreathing Horde then played Disciple of Bolas . If my Unbreathing Horde was at say 10/10 due to the zombies in my graveyard/field and i sac'd him to Disciple of Bolas would i then draw 10 and gain 10 life? My friend said it would be worthless because Unbreathing Horde has a starting power of 0/0 and that the counters he gets from my other zombies wouldn't count towards his power when sacrificed? can somebody clear this up please?

When an effect like this requires the power or toughness of a creature that died, it uses that creature's last known information. The LKI of Unbreathing Horde is that it was a 10/10.
Note that if the effect specifically requires the power or toughness of that creature card, then it would be different. The P/T of Unbreathing Horde as a creature card is 0/0.

So, as I said, the LKI of Unbreathing Horde is used. You gain 10 and draw ten.

Im pretty sure you could used like giant growth or something to buff up the zombie's power before sacrificing it, it just says its power and that takes into account any +1/+1 's it gets from any source so the counters would count toward this as well.

But drawing ten is not going to be good... Gonna have to discard quite a bit.

just read here http://mtg.wikia.com/wiki/Counter_(noun) seems like counters don't actually boost the power of a sacrifice according to this? or am i reading it wrong?
