.....and i'm back, My Animar deck is doing good and the few cards i am aiming for are going to be in the mail soon thanks to all who helped, but that's not why i am here today.

recently a new card i came across Karador, Ghost Chieftain has caught my eye and will round out my color wheel (don't notice the shared green between animar and him) and i am looking for some fun casual ideas.

My budget for this deck is 120-140 not including the cards i already have set aside for him.cards that i have and are thinking of putting in him are - Sorin Markov , Terminus , card:Martyr's Bond, Path to Exile , Enlightened Tutor , Day of Judgment , Sun Titan , Avacyn, Angel of Hope , Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , Puppeteer Clique , Disciple of Bolas , card:Hell's Caretaker, Dance of the Dead , Beseech the Queen , Phyrexian Arena , Animate Dead , Rune-Scarred Demon , Crypt Ghast , Underworld Connections , Diabolic Tutor , Visara the Dreadful , Genesis Wave , Gilded Lotus , Sol Ring , Mimic Vat , Krosan Verge , Caves of Koilos , Sunpetal Grove , Temple Garden .

I am trying to go for a kind of reanimation feel but without dredge or too much self milling. anything that would allow me to make karador cheaper, bring out more creatures from the graveyard, or both. thank you in advance for your suggestions or even your views.

I don't like Underworld Connections . You'd be better off going with the classic Phyrexian Arena rather than tying up one of your lands.

Sorin Markov is debatable, but he has his applications.

Sheoldred, Whispering One is an EDH reanimator staple.

You should work on getting a strong mana base. That's the platform for any deck. With a good land and ramp setup, you'll be able to support everything else. Look at including the pain lands, shock lands (they shouldn't be too hard to trade for with RTR and GTC out), filter lands, and some utility/support lands.

good stuff as always sir, i had my reservations about Underworld Connections but i figured the draw power wouldn't hurt if i did it at someone's endphase. but you make a good point, ties up lands. sorin's role has a purpose for a finisher of sorts. as much and i enjoy long games with my buddies sometimes they are too long haha.

the shock lands i have plans to get sooner to dragons maze seeing as they will flood the market. sheoldred is planned for this deck, but id rather find her actual print than her promo (i feel the art is better)

these i will add to my maybeboard!

The shocks won't really flood the market like you're anticipating. Dragon's Maze packs give you a 6% chance of pulling a shock, which means a 0.6% chance of pulling any particular shock. Also, the values for RTR and GTC printings of shocks are pretty stable right now.

solid point, curse math and its probability's haha. ill just pick up each one i need each other week then.

looking at a huge weakness would be his reliance almost completely on the graveyard. getting me some hexproof for myself would be good. Leyline of Sanctity , True Believer , and since you can't stop everything Riftsweeper ?

That depends mostly on your meta. I personally don't like spells and permanents that give you hexproof, but I don't often come across situations where they would even be applicable. If your playgroup goes heavy on the Bojuka Bog s and card:Tormod's Crypts, then you may want to consider cards like Leyline of Sanctity more than I have.

A large part of designing a proper EDH deck is building around threats and disruption. There are a few options here:

1) Build a deck so fast that threats won't be able to hit you in time.

2) Build a deck so powerful that threats won't be able to resolve against you.3) Build a deck so resilient that threats won't be able to stop you if they hit.

The first option rarely works, and it frequently leaves you out to dry in the event a threat does resolve. The second option means building a control deck, which doesn't necessarily play well with mechanics like dredge, which would be useful to your main strategy. You also lack access to blue, so control would be much more difficult to both achieve and maintain. The third option is probably your best bet. I personally opt for a mix of two and three, but my colors and budget allow me the luxury of almost unfailing control.

yea budget can be a great asset, i have luck on my side sometimes with booster pulls so i have some room to exchange for better cards. i've had to overcome a kind of "hoarding" of good or "pretty" cards to achieve my goals. as far as dredge is concerned i though about it but since a friend of mine uses it in his Memeoplasm deck. i have seen it work wonders, and fall short equally once again an argument of budget. card:Tormod's Crypt isn't an issue, but everyone but me has a Bojuka Bog , same thing happened with Reliquary Tower after i had Jin-gitaxias in my animar deck before. sometimes our meta gets a little "revengy" haha.

karador has lots of potential of disruption, and since you can bring your friends back to the party its ALWAYS a plus. i try not to focus on threats i face often so much due to it feeling like i'm playing to counter one instance. i'm trying to be less competitive with him but still formidable (as funny as that sounds).
