Can elf tribal be somewhat competitive in standard?
Threw this deck together from my collection because elves are cool.
Suggestions are welcome, but I probably won't hunt cards for this deck because I don't think Elves are up to par for the current standard.
i like the idea and i'd consider Craterhoof Behemoth as a win con option. since w/ archdruid you can cheat him out pretty early

cheating him out early would kinda defeat the purpose. You cheat him out you have a 5/5 meet Doom Blade or Ultimate Price .

behemoth adds x/x to all creatures. so if arch druid taps for 4 on turn 4-5 and you have 3-4 lands out....then all creatures get 4/4 or 5/5 and you swing for lethal

based on your deck:
turn 1 land- arbor elf or elvish mystic
turn 2 land- elvish archdruid
turn 3 land- any 2 elves since you'll have access to 6ish mana
turn 4 land tap arch druid for 4...craterhoof is 9/9 the other 3 untapped elves are 6/6s...doomblade your behemoth and you still hit for 18

It gives it to them until end of turn and for the number of creatures you control is x/x by turn 4 you wont have many creatures and what if they prevent all damage ect not to mention you wont have 4 elves by turn 3 most of the time and even if you do turn 4/5 is quite late and the odds of an answer are very good. Not saying its not a good idea just saying don't count on it have other wincons.

18 assuming I have zero creatures on the field also arbor elf or elvish mystic are 5/5s so thats 17 and a perfect draw and me with an empty board my simic deck could swing 40-52 turn 4/5 but it never happens.

you said based on your deck whos deck i didnt make this post are you refering to his deck or my simic deck as my simic
In a Perfect Hand/Draws.
T1 Forest , Elvish Mystic
T2 Island , Elvish Mystic Gyre Sage
T3 Breeding Pool or Island , Kalonian Hydra
T4 Land(any), Master Biomancer , Clone on Kalonian Hydra , Attack with Kalonian Hydra for 8.
T5 Land(any), Clone or Kalonian Hydra (if i have either), Attack with Kalonian Hydra and its Clone so 2 32/32s w trample. GG
the above post wasn't taking this dream into example as it never happens but the other does sometimes

this one does happen
Another possible play is
T1: Experiment One or Cloudfin Raptor
T2: Gyre Sage, Experiment One becomes a 2/2
T3: Renegade Krasis or Vorel of the Hull Clade Experiment One becomes a 3/3 Gyre Sage becomes a 2/3
T4: Master Biomancer or see turn 2 and Vorel of the Hull Clade s abilty or play Vorel of the Hull Clade Experiment One becomes a 5/5 Gyre Sage becomes a 4/5 Renegade Krasis becomes a 4/2
T5: Kalonian Hydra /w Savage Summoning or Kalonian Hydra w/ Vorel of the Hull Clade s abilty
Renegade Krasis becomes a 5/3 Experiment One becomes a 6/6 Gyre Sage becomes a 5/6
T6: Swing - Kalonian Hydra is 8/8 or 16/16 depending on route for T5 w trample Renegade Krasis becomes a 10/6 Experiment One becomes a 12/12 Gyre Sage becomes a 10/12
at the worst that is 40 damage. of course those numbers would change depending on certain choicesJuly 20, 2013 3:58 p.m.
