i am torn between Elixir of Immortality and Stymied Hopes . i mean with Elixir of Immortality i can get 5 health and get more cards back but with Stymied Hopes i can counter a spell as long as you do not pay one. by the way i am playing a counter deck where i counter most spells you throw at me until i can get a lot of mana to summon a kick but creature. what do you guys think?

They don't even serve the same purpose, so we can't tell you which to choose unless we see your decklist.
Stymied Hopes is bad, though. If you're paying 2 for a counterspell, it might as well be harder to evade than simply paying 1.

Gut instinct is honestly neither, but would need to see the deck. Both are not terribly good cards and there's plenty of other cards you'd rather have in the mainboard of a control deck.
