Esper Artifact Deck, Help Wanted

Deck Help forum

As the title suggests; I wish to make an Esper Artifact deck, and I'm just curious as to what cards I might want to throw in there.

Artifact Lands are a given

Etched Champion should be easy to get the Metalcrafft for him

Etherium Sculptor is almost a must as a playset

Master Transmuter would just be HILARIOUS, and i'm willing to pay for a playset

Ethersworn Canonist for obvious reasons

Obviously i can't make a deck with just those though, so i'd like anybody's help if you're willing to give it :) Just one Rule; Modern, please. Thank you for your time

If your goal is to make this deck modern, you won't be able to run any artifact lands besides Darksteel Citadel . Also, if you're trying to make this deck competitive I recommend doing either eggs or affinity for an artifact-related modern deck. Some tron decks could be classified as artifacty too.

Wow... You're right about the artifact lands... I could've sworn Seat of the Synod was Modern... That was my bad. But as for the Eggs or Affinity, i'm not sure if that's all i could do. I mean Master Transmuter is Modern.

Etherium Sculptor .

Ethersworn Canonist .

Etched Champion .

Metallurgeon ,

Filigree Angel ,

Ethersworn Shieldmage .

Master of Etherium .

I mean half of those are why i wanted to play Esper Artifact. Maybe there's something I'm just not seeing? Not trying to be rude or anything, just want to make sure it's actually possible to run this in modern before i start investing.

I don't know if a deck with those cards would be that good, I would have to do some experimentation and playtesting to figure it out myself. Some of those cards just aren't that playable, like Filigree Angel , Metallurgeon , and Etched Champion . Master Transmuter is okay, but in most cases you might as well run Elvish Piper . Ethersworn Shieldmage , Master of Etherium , Etherium Sculptor , and Ethersworn Canonist are good and all have their place, just not necessarily in the same deck. Another fairly good modern deck that has a very similar flavor to the cards your suggestion is the Erayo-canonist lockdown deck. It uses stuff like Glint Hawk , Faerie Impostor , Memnite , and Ornithopter to quickly flip Erayo, Soratami Ascendant or activate Quest for the Holy Relic (with Batterskull , Argentum Armor and swords). Also, if you decide to try and run an artifact deck with those cards anyway, you might want to make azorius instead of esper, since your not really using the black.

Filigree Angel is both to slow and useless for a 60 card deck. Magic isn't about extending your survival time, its about kill your opponents before they kill you. Having said that, You're in the right track. I'm a HUGE fan of Steel Overseer and Tempered Steel .. I also love Mox Opal ... you should also look into 0 drops like Ornithopter and Memnite which can be buffed by Tempered Steel , Master of Etherium and Steel Overseer .

My friend runs Sword of the Meek , Thopter Foundry , and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas to make unlimited thopters and gain life on his opponents upkeeps. He can also use the generated tokens as blockers. Eventually Tezzy can Ult to win. if you're feeling really ballsy throw in Time Sieve for unlimited turns LOL.

Check my Tempered Steel for potential artifact ideas. Its not impossible to drop your entire hand on turn one. Or be swinging for 10 damage by turn two.

My EDH deck is Esper Artifacts, you may find some good ideas there as well.

The reason why i mentioned Filigree Angel was because of Master Transmuter . And the reason why i want Master Transmuter over Elvish Piper is due to Voltaic Key . If i have an ETB effect card, like Filigree Angel or Sharuum the Hegemon , i can abuse it. Which is why i want that.

The only reason why i mention Esper is just because i need that splash of black for Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas

I do like both of your ideas though... The unlimited turns sounds awesome! I just don't ENTIRELY see how that works with Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas ... And abusing those Enchantments also sounds nice :3

Personally, i still think Ethersworn Canonist would belong in any artifact deck with white in it, simply because it hinders your opponents like no other, and if they're running artifacts, then that's why i like sideboards :)

I do appreciate your comments, and i'm going to check out those decks now, haha.

Maybe you should just run an esper artifacts edh deck, then you would be able to effectively use lots of the cards you want.

Not a fan of EDH, personally. And the only thing that's not Modern that i planned on using was the Artifact lands. Other than that i'm actually pretty set. I've made a private deck that's doing fairly well. Not like it's perfect, but it's winning against other decks I'm playtesting against a good portion of the time.

EDH is awesome

I'm not saying it's not, just personally i find it hard to get into. I can see why people have fun doing it, but it's not my cup of tea. Like Tarmogoyf , personally i find it as a decent card, but apparently people like it enough to view it as worth $100.

Esspy Arties is the deck, un-privatized it.
