Hey fellow magicians,
I have an idea to port the standart 8Drake deck to modern and/or legacy.
The premise of the deck is the following: 4 Crackling Drake, 4 Enigma Drake and 4 Arclight Phoenix.
Every suggestion will be prooved. I'm really curious what you guys think. Do you think it would be viable and which cards would you choose?
I like the 2 drakes but don't see the phoenix in the deck.

Agree with the above poster about the Arclight Phoenix, but looking at Enigma Drake and Crackling Drake makes me think about Fling. Isn't there a new card that recently came out that has a similar effect?
8 pieces of Combo Piece A and 8 pieces of Combo Piece B usually makes a loose idea into a thing when a new set comes out.

maybe get some Countryside Crusher and Seismic Assault in there for a plan B, I've seen that deck lurking around in the shadows of the metagame.

I play Izzet Control with Crackling Drake. I think you may find some of the spells there helpful. I disagree with Arclight Phoenix in the deck. Grixis is probably the best path, but Izzet is a bit more focused on the strategy I'm seeing. Maybe some burn? Especially 1 or 2 copies of Ionize.

Hey Spazik008 i think you mean Gravitic Punch. Well the idea is good you can play a control deck with Blood Moon.

Young Pyromancer and Electrostatic Field sounds good.

kinda getting off topic but what about Electrostatic Field in a Storm shell? Could maybe get the Enigma Drake + Fling combo in there too.

You can go for 12 with Spellheart Chimera. It may turn out to be a little excessive in practice but it's worth thinking about.

If you play Spellheart Chimera, Enigma Drake, and Crackling Drake; you may want to play Serum Visions, Thought Scour, Lightning Bolt, Logic Knot (max of 2), Think Twice, Flame Slash, Ionize (max of 2).

Spellheart Chimera has one big disadvantage, it is not Lightning Bolt proof.

captainamerica I'm relatively new to all this older cards. But would Opt be a better choice for Think Twice? I know you can only draw one card but you would keep a higher count on the spells in your graveyard for Enigma Drake and Crackling Drake.

Shloki96 Opt is a fantastic card, however in the long run Think Twice nets you more card advantage.

I think in a Grixis control can you build something with Enigma and Crackling but the Phoenix doesn´t fit that well in this sort of deck in my opinion.
