i just got into magic with a few friends and have some issues with deck building but i have an idea of using the Progenitor Mimic to ramp up a feild of devisating beast but i need ideas on some spells to ramp up mana and protect me the first few turns
is it possible for Farseek to get out a forest if i was dual land?

Shock lands yes, like Breeding Pool for you, because at the land type it says "Forest Island" but dual land like Hinterland Harbor can't be fetched because it's just a "land" type.

ok and cards like Verdant Haven can produce mana of any colour? and is that two mana produce for every time it is tapped or is verdant haven a once a turn ablity

Yes. Farseek can search for "shocklands" like Temple Garden , Overgrown Tomb , Stomping Ground , or Breeding Pool because they are all another type of land in addition to "Forest ". Though if you put one into play with Farseek , you can't pay the two life to have them enter untapped, because Farseek specifically says you MUST put it into play tapped. Like vampirelazarus recommended though, mana-dorks like Arbor Elf and Avacyn's Pilgrim would do wonders towards ramping up to your larger creatures.
If you are looking into protecting yourself for the early game, consider control-oriented enchantments like Oblivion Ring , Detention Sphere and Blind Obedience . Also consider spells that prevent damage like Fog , Safe Passage , or Riot Control .
And just as an idea for your deck, when I first saw Progenitor Mimic my mind IMMEDIATELY jumped to Craterhoof Behemoth . That would be DISGUSTINGLY OVERPOWERED together. A Craterhoof Behemoth every turn?!?!?! Insane. I feel like that would be a great place for you to start. :)
And hit me up on my wall or in this thread if you get a deck list posted. I'd love to see where you take this project!

i was thinking of cards more likely to be continue in play after the m13 block rolls out,
this is what i was thinking of so far progentic beast's
the real idea is spam the mana early in the game and hopefully drop a progentior mimic on a powerful creature and win that way if not spam it on a biovisionary
i don't know if i too heavily feature on ramping mana and not protecting me to spell or anything

You do realize that M13 and Innistrad Block don't rotate out until after Theros Block hits print right? That's not until September 27th of this year. That is a LONG A** TIME to just ignore M13 and Innistrad cards. Just sayin'.
Checking your deck list now!

I hope not. I really miss my original elf Llanowar Elves , and my Paragon of Goblinkin Raging Goblin . They are the heart and soul of CLASSIC MTG. :D
And it's ok, when I was first getting acquainted with the set/block releases, I was under the same impression as well. There's actually about a 4 month overlap where BOTH the previous year's core set and the current year's core set are in standard. :) And then there's about a 3 month overlap where we lose the last full block and the previous year's core set, and will only have Return to Ravnica Block, M14, and Theros SET, before the next set of Theros BLOCK gets printed in early 2014 (February, I think).

Just checked. "Born of the Gods" (2nd set in Theros Block) gets printed in February 2014, and "Journey Into Nyx" (3rd and Final set in Theros Block) gets printed in May 2014.

so gatecrash and dragon's maze will be out of standard at the same time as the 2015 corset block comes out?

No. Return to Ravnica block, M14, Theros block, and M15 will all be in standard together until September of 2014, when they print the next block after Theros. September is always the first set in a new block, February is the second set of that block, and May is the final set of the block. Usually June or July they print the next core set. And then the cycle repeats itself. You understand?

Oh, and if you ramp fast enough, protecting yourself isn't a real big problem.
That said, since you are running Progenitor Mimic , I suggest Druid's Deliverance .
And thraggymcthraggydoodle.
If yoiuve got the money, Voice of Resurgence as well.
Both will synergize well with the mimic

they're making a new elf. It's a functional reprint of Llanowar Elves , called elvish mystic. (Lol they don't have the artwork yet.http://www.mythicspoiler.com/m14/cards/elvishmystic.html.

@KingSorin: That is like, the BEST news I've heard in a long time! :D I'm hoping they don't make the art super-sissy looking though, 'cuz the art update on Llanowar Elves made them SUPER BADA**! :D

for standard, i suggest Farseek .
Probably the best ramp in standard. That and mana dorks (Arbor Elf , Avacyn's Pilgrim )
