General Grievous's Lightsabers

Deck Help forum

So, after looking at the set of Sword of Body and Mind , Sword of Feast and Famine , Sword of Light and Shadow and the Sword of Fire and Ice , I decided that it would be fun to create a theme for a body to be equipped with all four swords, and at first, after I saw all four swords, I envisioned General Grievous from Return of the Sith. So, the theme for the deck I am working on involves making a highly resistant General Grievous character equipped with at least one of each of the swords above (they are the only ones to use as opposed to some others as they all have auras). And since the General is damn hard to kill, maybe put some Darksteel Plate s on him? And prior to the battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi, he wore a cloak. So, maybe Whispersilk Cloak ? And if I remember correctly, Grievous used a blaster, a staff, his fists and his feet in combat. He had enough appendages to spider crawl along the floor to his craft, so he should have reach. He kills everyone he battles, so he ought to have deathtouch.

So, the question I am trying to find out is, who is the best candidate for the General? Obviously, it ought to be some kind of artifact creature, as Grievous was a cyborg when we meet him in Star Wars 3. And question number two is, what equipment does he need to have to meet all of the general's qualities?

@M457ERSP00K True enough, I suppose, but the 4 swords I listed are a matched set. They aren't necessarily fitting of Grievous in particular, but they don't have to be.

As for Kaldra as the General, I don't see it. The General is supposed to be some really tough badass Jedi-slayer. Kaldra is neat, but it is hard to justify him with Haste and First Strike. Personally, Kaldra fits more of Jango Fett to me, as when you need another, you got another. The General is supposed to, in my mind, be someone who you want to target immediately to take out and then you're out of the woods, which doesn't fit Kaldra as your opponent can always have another. Maybe it oughta be something very annyoing like a Platinum Angel with a Magebane Armor (because Grievous doesn't fly on his own, and he kills Jedi and wasn't really impacted by Obi-Wan's Force Push)?

Darksteel Myr easy to get out hard to deal with

Darksteel Myr is harder than some to get rid of, true, but doesn't really evoke the sensation of dread expected of a general of armies of droids... Platinum Angel or Platinum Emperion both are big, foreboding bodies that might feel right... But they are also my go-to creatures in general use. I imagine there is someone who fits better than them though.

i understand but i figure the cards low cost would allow you to make him dreadful. but what about Darksteel Sentinel

Good point about the Myr. Forgot about that cool little guy. But if anything darksteel would feel like a general to me, it'd be Darksteel Colossus .

Not the colossus or emperion. They are both massive engines of destruction, more like a Death Star than the general. I suggest something like Darksteel Sentinel if you're dead set on darksteel. If not, just give something Darksteel Plate .

Crovax the Cursed is my suggestion, as it reflects Grievous' penchant for killing his own droids when they annoy him, and his four lightsabers as the +1/+1 counters.

Maybe Dralnu, Lich Lord as well. Also, you could build a nice EDH around him and the swords.

Strandwalker for reach, Basilisk Collar for deathtouch. Sorry about all the repeated posting.

I'm not really all that concerned about darksteel being what Grievous is made out of. After speaking with my friend GodhandX, we came to the conclusion that Tuktuk the Explorer might be the best general in terms of flavor. Tuktuk, when he goes to the graveyard, becomes a 5/5 legendary Goblin Golem artifact creature token. (Goblins are reptiles, right?) Anyway, it fits a lot because he is a big cyborgy, reptilian creature that just is feared because of his name and his reputation. So, I think we make Tuktuk the general, put an Argentum Armor on him, because it looks like his armor and can be a viable option instead of deathtouch on him, the put a Darksteel Plate on him. We then give him Strandwalker to represent his ability to spidercrawl, he get's card:General's Kabuto as is his right, and could, if you really force it, resemble his headpiece. Maybe Golem-Skin Gauntlets for his melee fists. I'm thinking Echo Circlet because with 4 arms, he could effectively harm two Jedi, Fireshrieker for his staff, Grafted Wargear because if it comes off, he's dead, Mask of Riddles for fear, and Whispersilk Cloak for his cloak. What his blaster is, I haven't decided yet, but I think Magebane Armor might not fit if the creature doesn't have flying to begin with. I'm not yet certain. As for haste, I am starting to see that, with his quickness in a fight, but I'm not certain yet. I might have gone with Basilisk Collar if I could find a justification for lifelink.

So, what do you all think of the General? Does he sound menacing enough, but also still killable? What other qualities does he have that I missed, or what equipment do you all think fits better? I am probably going to play this in a modified format where no player can win until either the general is destroyed, or the opponent cannot defeat the general, so it's all just a metagame deck anyway. Spare no expenses with your ideas, as the deck will be proxied anyway.

Wow. That is possibly the most unkillable creature I have ever seen. A 25/17 that is indestructible, has reach, shroud, double strike, fear, a form of annihilator 1, draws a card when he deals damage, and can block two creatures at a time. That is just epic. One attack, they're screwed.

Wait, I forgot the swords. 33/25 then, with pro-all colors and a lot of other stuff.

And yet, all they would need to do to kill it, is get Grafted Wargear unequipped, and it's all over.

Or, for that matter, the opponent can use the "Legend Rule" to their benefit.
