green cards that deal with Sheoldred, Whispering One
Deck Help forum
Posted on Nov. 26, 2013, 4:50 a.m. by puxing
i have a mono green EDH deck and i am getting owned by a mono black Sheoldred, Whispering One deck because of that sacrifice effect.
i have a somewhat voltron deck with Thrun, the Last Troll are there some cards that help me against Sheoldred, Whispering One
also a problem is that he can just recast his Sheoldred, Whispering One so removal isn't really helping
so far i have :Tajuru Preserver Lignify
so if you know any cards that can help me i, please post them here.
your help is appreciated :D
New commander: Sigarda, Host of Herons ? White has a bit of tuck, too.

Desert Twister and Brittle Effigy can deal with it temporarily but I can't think of any way you can deal with it long term.

Squirrel Nest may be a way to produce tokens you can sac but it will cost you a mana. If it is worth being constantly 1 mana down to produce the sac token try it.

if anything, Arrest or Ice Cage might work, or something that gets rid of her for good, such as using Liquimetal Coating + Splinter

playeralex1 neither Arrest or Ice Cage works for mono green and the Liquimetal Coating + Splinter is just a 2 card 6 mana removal spell as their commander would still go to the command zone after being exiled. However that train of though could work potentially with Liquimetal Coating + Nullmage Advocate or Nullmage Shepherd and the like and would be repeatable to keep them from casting their commander if they don't have the mana as well as destroy any permanent thats an issue hope this helps :)

@playeralex1 those dont really stop her. Her abilities are not activated abilities so Arrest and Ice Cage won't protect him and with the Liquimetal Coating + Splinter sheoldred's controller would just opt for her to go to the command zone upon being exiled.
@puxing ~ you could go an elf route and produce creatue tokens. I have a build thats mono green that has some of the more prevalent elf makers (Imperious Perfect for example). It slows you a tad because of the army building process but Parallel Lives and Doubling Season can restore some of the speed thanks to the double tokens effect

right. forgot about that part. hmm, mono green is kinda short on spot removal, but I can think of one or two. Liquimetal Coating + Oxidize is a cheaper way to go, if you wanna get rid of her. there is always Garruk, Primal Hunter for tokens too.

If you want to be an asshole use Lifeforce .
This would screw his whole deck once it is out.

Helvault could stop her if you can keep paying the mana. Jade Mage to just sac a saproling. Not too many ways in green to stop creatures.

puxing, just remember tha with any token producer that triggers during your upkeep, you will have to sacrifice a creature BEFORE you get the new token. Triggers go on the stack in APNAP order: your trigger would go on first, then your opponent's, so his sac effect would resolve first.
For cards similar to Awakening Zone or that just produce tokens in general, check out Don't feed the Hellion. They don't help your strategy much though, so I'd recommend more cards like Tajuru Preserver instead.
