Grimgrin question

Grimgrin, Corpse-BornMTG Card: Grimgrin, Corpse-Born: Can you still sacrifice a creature to give him +1/+1 when he's untapped, or can you only do it when he's already tapped? I mean, I know the way I want it to work, but... yeah. :P

You sure can. The untapping is part of the effect, not the cost. So unless it was before the colon (like the Untap symbol from Lorwyn) or specifically said in the ability "Only do this if Grimgrin is tapped" then you can do it as many times as you want no matter what state he is in, tapped or untapped.
