Grixis commander 2013 mods
Deck Help forum

What can I modify from my sealed 2013 grixis commander deck? The commander I am using is Nekusar, the mindrazor, I find him extremely useful. Off the top of my head, Howling Mine , Dreadbore , and Wheel of Fortune sound pretty awesome here. Id also prefer to trade the merfolk nemesis, but other than that all the original cards are included. What else would make this more competitive?

Time Reversal and Reforge the Soul can deal some damage. then use stuff like Charmbreaker Devils to bring them back
also Archmage Ascension and Psychosis Crawler wouldn't be a bad idea. Nin, the Pain Artist as well

Only issue I have with Nin, the Pain Artist is that it gets removed almost instantly :(

Another important question: What to take out? True-Name Nemesis and Baleful Strix dont seem to have much of a presence (plus they are tradeable for more cards) but what else can go? My deck is Vengeful King (Help is love!). Like the title, any help is greatly appreciated

Thraximundar & Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge wont fit in very well if youre gonna focus on the card draw aspect.

Yeah I was thinking Bloodgift Demon instead of Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge . Maybe Reforge the Soul for Thrax...how to those modifications sound to you @BIGBADBRRRAP

Personally I would look at Reliquary Tower , Venser's Journal , Ivory Tower , Iron Maiden , Consecrated Sphinx , Underworld Dreams , Jace's Archivist , Library of Leng , Mana Flare , Horn of Greed , Elixir of Immortality , and Laboratory Maniac . That's just me, though.

i think Laboratory Maniac is generally a waste unless youre building to deck yourself.

@nobu_the_bard Mana Flare looks like its more for giggles, but I have seen a few decks that capitalize with Underworld Dreams Jace's Archivist . I could see Iron Maiden doing good things as well

Yeah I wasn't sure exactly what your objective was. Mana Flare was on my list as an idea if you were playing up the politics (benefitting the other players, enabling them to play the cards you are making them draw). Iron Maiden is a more multiplayer-oriented variant of Black Vise , and Jace's Archivist is potentially bonkers with Nekusar, the Mindrazer (with Underworld Dreams being an alternative/additional source of damage).
Laboratory Maniac is meant as an alternative win strategy. If you can't kill the other players by other means, you can try to win by decking yourself. In a long game that might be more practical (such as against Oloro, Ageless Ascetic ) depending on if you have a lot of other things to improve your own draws, such as Consecrated Sphinx , or just tons of things that force you to draw insane numbers of cards, like Jace's Archivist .
Anyway, it was just some ideas based on how I'd seen someone at my LGS playing similar strategies before.
If you like Wheel of Fortune there's Reforge the Soul , Dragon Mage , and Wheel of Fate that I remember off the top of my head.

Seizan, Perverter of Truth and Kami of the Crescent Moon are fun. Font of Mythos is two copies of Howling Mine shoved together. Jace Beleren is very fun. Temple Bell (which may already be in it, but oh well) is fun.
