I've been looking for suggestions on making my deck GRRR ME SMASH into a more competitive deck. It seems to do well in my more casual group and wanted to try my hand at FNM over summer.My deck is currently composed of
2x Alpha Authority 2x Burning-Tree Emissary 2x Clan Defiance 1x Domri Rade 2x Flinthoof Boar 4x Forest 4x Ghor-Clan Rampager 4x Gruul Guildgate 2x Gruul Ragebeast 2x Kessig Wolf Run 3x Legion Loyalist 8x Mountain 4x Rakdos Cackler 3x Rancor 2x Rubblebelt Raiders 2x Skarrg Guildmage 4x Splatter Thug 4x Stomping Ground 2x Wrecking Ogre 3x Zhur-Taa Druid
Hmmm those reckoners look like a bit of a problem, perhaps a bit of good old spot removal is needed.

So I've made your suggested changes along with adding more Clan Defiance by removing Alpha Authority though I'm having doubts to that change. To deal with those pesky reckoners I'll need either unblockables or some spot removal. Perhaps Ground Assault would work.

Keep in mind the damage dealt to a Boros Reckoner by Clan Defiance can be redirected to you or a creature you control.
Experiment One is a card you may want to consider.

Experiment One looks like it would be helpful thanks to its regeneration.Though Boros Reckoner can still have access to first strike so I'll need a 4/4 experiment to make sure it doesn't get killed by that.

The Experiment is not here to combat the Reckoner. He is a quick and aggressive creature that fits your build.
Use something like Firefist Striker , Pyreheart Wolf , or Fervent Cathar to get around Reckoner.

So I've side boarded Firefist Striker , Pyreheart Wolf , and Fervent Cathar , the experiments might be side or main.

Mugging is alright, but it doesn't put out a creature early on and becomes a bad idea if Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is out.

I would suggest less 2 ofs and more 4 ofs just glimpsing at your list. Primarily, 4x Burning-Tree Emissary and 4x Flinthoof Boar . I would probably remove the Splatter Thug all together for these.
As for Gruul Ragebeast , if you're wanting a "bomb" for your deck, why not go with Ruric Thar, the Unbowed ? He is cheaper, the same size, and does more for you on the battlefield (just don't cast a noncreature spell :P). Also, do you want the majority of 1 and 2 drops to possibly come into play fighting Boros Reckoner s?
Hopefully making these few changes you will see an improvement.
