Gruul Human Aggro?

Deck Help forum

This deck is a prototype, but I'm trying to trim down the fat. I wanted to do human aggro without white.

deck:too-gruul-for-school-2

The idea is to fill the board with humans and then pump Champion of Lambholt or Wild Beastmaster to swing big. Maybe Pyreheart Wolf for evasion and Legion Loyalist for first strike.

What cards should I cut? Is this even a good idea?

I was making Gruul Humans when the spoiler for Rubblebelt Raiders Came out, here, take a look at my deck: Burning-Tree Humans

That's pretty snazzy, roughly the same approach I was going for. How'd you do with that deck? Ever get mana dry? Hamlet Captain looks sweet, didn't consider him.

Also, changed the name to Gruul's Night Out since I realized at how many of the creatures were ladies.

Thanks, btw Gruul Signet is not legal. I meant Lair Delve . I would drop the Ash Zealot as it is nasty to your mana base, and run Lair Delve to solve any mana problems.

Also, I'd cut 2 Ghor-Clan Rampager to keep your playstyle fast, and cut 2 Wild Beastmaster as they are not worth a playset, substitute in Hamlet Captain s. maybe cut an Ash Zealot for a buff spell like Dynacharge as well. it can really help salvage a screwed up combat phase or push through the last few points of damage.

Dynacharge also lets Champion of Lambholt Push creatures through for major damage

Wild Beastmaster and Ghor-Clan Rampager were actually the reason I made this deck. I'm less concerned about lording up my human creatures as much as I am getting Wild Beastmaster or Champion of Lambholt out and pumping either of them with Rancor or Ghor-Clan Rampager . Is that not a good battleplan in your opinion?

Considering dropping the Ash Zealot since 2 red is pretty harsh.

I was thinking your plan was different, my bad. if the Plan is with beastmaster and champ, then Disciple of the Old Ways might be nice. also, Madcap Skills and Alpha Authority may be solid enchantments if you can protect the creatures well enough. Glaring Spotlight and Sheltering Word are both solid protection spells.

I like the Madcap/Authority combo in limited, but I try to avoid creature enchants when possible. The only reason I include Rancor is because it bounces back to my hand when the creature it enchants dies. Also I'm not sure if I want to redirect aggro cards to protection cards, not so concerned about keeping things as much as I am trying to make sure I can attack as much as possible.

I'll probably keep Ash Zealot as well. First strike and possible power boosts thanks to Mayor of Avabruck  Flip is too good to pass up.

Hey , instead of Ash Zealot, you can trie a nice combo with burning tree emisary and gore house chainwalker
