So, I'm looking to get into Modern, and I want to start off with a fairly cheap deck. I enjoy playing and building removal-laden B/G Rock decks and super-fast aggro, so I'd also appreciate other suggestions along those lines. Of course, any advice on my decks is much appreciated as well. Below are the 3 builds I've come up with.

deck chart Modern B/G Budget Midrange

This one is my first choice. I'll already have a lot of the cards from playing B/G in Standard, and I'm familiar with the archetype. I just worry that without a few Modern B/G staples, it won't be tournament viable.

deck-large:tm06This one is the cheapest, and also really consistent. Problem is, I don't really want to be stuck playing this deck a lot, since I feel like it would get repetitive.

deck-large:budget-red-29-11-13-1I'd rather play this than infect, but the problem with this deck is that I would have to build it 100% from the ground up. I have none of these cards as of right now. I also have no experience playing burn-based aggro. I usually just turn dudes sideways.

Your budget red deck actually looks the most competitive there. If you're looking to get into Modern and you want a deck to build upon, however... I would go with your B/G idea. There is a lot of room for upgrades. Liliana of the Veil , etc. All that said, don't be afraid to invest in Modern. The cards don't lose any value.

It's not cards losing value that I'm afraid of. My issue is that a single copy of something like Liliana of the Veil , Tarmogoyf , Dark Confidant , or Verdant Catacombs would cost more than a playset of any given card in those decks. I can't really afford to spend so much on so few cards, and I'm pretty much starting from scratch in Modern (except in the B/G deck). For that reason, I'm trying to build a deck for ~$100.

If you don't want to buy those cards then playing black/green is sure to put you at a disadvantage. Have you thought about playing a tron or something more niche?

Soul sisters can be budget friendly. W/R with Norin the Wary can do well.

@Skulldrey, I'd definitely plan on picking those cards up eventually. The version of the deck I have up is what I would be playing in the interim. I don't want to run a combo deck because I won't be shelling out for fetches any time soon and combo is the archetype I feel would be most hurt by the resulting lack of deck thinning.

Also, I've got a 4th list:deck-large:ur-wizards-02-12-13-1

I actually really like that U/R list. Delver can be built on a budget and still be effective. All you really need is mana leak and delver himself, so.

Though playing white with delver is traditionally the way to go, it's fun to innovate. Just remember that Path to Exile and Geist of Saint Traft are important cards.

The two (relatively) budget Modern decks I run are Soul Sisters and Mono Blue Tron. They're both pretty good, and put up decent MTGO results. Affinity and RG Tron are the cheapest Tier 1 decks currently, and may be within your budget.

(Places sorting Helm of Awakening on head ) "Hmm, difficult. VERY difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you??"

"Not Infect. Not Infect"

Not Infect, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Infect Decks will help you on the way to greatness, there's no doubt about that. No?

"Please not Infect, Please anything but Infect."

"Well, If you are sure, Better be...

"MONO-RED AGGRO GOBLINS!"

(Crowd cheers and you walk towards to the Mono-Red deck table)
