Gorgon Destruction

I'm building a deck around gorgons, and would like some help to get it tournament viable before i shell out the money to get the remaining cards. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First thing I would suggest working on is the consistency. arguably the most important factor of any tournament list. You have to play a lot of games at a tournament and can't afford to drop games to your mana.

20 lands is too few for the casting costs your dealing with. Most of your best cards don't come in until 5 CMC. Mana dorks should never replace lands, for the most part, they are accelerating, but in order to accelerate you still need to be hitting your normal land drops. I would bump that up to at least 24.

Next up I would look at cutting the weaker aspects or stuff that doesn't work within the deck. Asphodel Wanderer is pretty underpowered for constructed. Deathrite Shaman is an powerhouse in extended formats, but it is traditionally pretty weak in standard without enablers. Returned Phalanx and Shipwreck Singer are good limited players, but don't hold up well to constructed. Midnight Recovery just isn't worth it unless it puts it on the field. Paying 4 mana and a card to recover something is just too slow.

Your colors also afford you some of the best removal and other cards in standard. Abrupt Decay and Thoughtseize make cards like Voyage's End and Curse of the Swine look pretty bad by comparison.

You may be better off just cutting blue and forming the deck into more of a GB mid-range, or looking at some other blue cards, like Nightveil Specter .

Other cards worth looking at - Sylvan Caryatid , Desecration Demon , Golgari Charm , Underworld Connections , Putrefy , Pack Rat , Doom Blade , Devour Flesh , Scavenging Ooze and Lotleth Troll . More sideboard oriented - Pharika's Cure , Mistcutter Hydra and Lifebane Zombie .

Thanks for the advice! I'll look at incorporating some of this into the deck. I'm still learning how to build a good constructed deck so good explanations like this are awesome!

Made some modifications to the deck, looks a bit smoother. Other opinions would be appreciated.
