Deck Help forum

Hello all, Ive been trying to build a nice vampire / elf deck in the range of 50-60 cards. I want to utilize as much of the vampire death touch and life link possible with the speed and grant strength defense of the elves. Im using and trying to collect more of Woodland Cemetary and Overgrown Tomb to make summoning nice and quick. Any suggestions on which creatures, instants and sorcery I should invest in and If I should have two main creatures, a vampire and elf to boost or just spread and infect fast?

Vampire Nighthawk seems like it would be a staple for the type of deck you want.

Elves are powerful enough on their own, a good Elf deck can power out an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn as early as turn 2. Also playing a deck with tribal lords of different tribes can overall weaken the deck.

I think a lot of what you're trying to do depends on what format you're playing, with the lands you mention I assume standard, but if you want to run good elves, your only real choices are Modern and Legacy.

Demarge, I don't think I've ever seen an elf deck ramp up to Emrakul, the Aeons Torn by turn 2.. I'd like to see that happen, do you think you can mention the combo?

Personally; I enjoy a Turn 1 Emrakul :) Ancient Tomb +Lotus Petal +Show and Tell for an easy fatty :) Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Blightsteel Colossus

I don't remember the long sequence the elf deck went through, but it was turn 2 that emrakul became cast ontop of a huge board filled with elves something like turn 1 mana elf into turn two cradle with a couple of elves followed by glimpse followed by many more elves, I think when he was done most of his deck was either in his hand or on the table

Now cestdesconneries wouldn't it be more fun to get Omniscience followed by Griselbrand and Emrakul? you'd get an extra turn and win with one swing.

After I gather all the cards I have ordered in I will post what I have built so far and let you guys have at it and tear it and me apart to help rebuild stronger. I really appreciate the help. Ive been away from MTG for a long time and the last deck I remember buying was stronghold. Theres alot I need to catch up on and I dont want to be behind the ball the entire time.

You'll want:

Abrupt Decay
Deathrite Shaman
Liliana of the Veil
Lotleth Troll
Arbor Elf
Dreg Mangler
Rancor
Predator Ooze
Ulvenwald Tracker
Strangleroot Geist
Vampire Nighthawk
Farseek
Garruk Relentless  Flip
Thragtusk

Deathrite Shaman , Abrupt Decay , and Liliana of the Veil are both staples in other formats (especially Legacy and Modern), so they'll hold value.

I'll check back on this thread later when you get some cards and offer some deck suggestions, but what I listed is the shell for a really competitive deck that stays in your desired colors.

Demarge Omni-Science / Show-Science is a deck that I am very much a fan of actually :)

I'm just more-so a Sneak Attack player, I don't have as much of a reason for it, since it does require an additional color (dang Wasteland ), but it seems like extra ways of getting your fatties out.

Instead of Show and Tell into a fatty, or Omniscience , and that being your only way of winning, I can use Burning Wish to get a Show and Tell or use Sneak Attack , because hard-casting that is actually possible :P hahaha, still putting together my Sneak and Show deck, but when play testing with the full thing, I just prefers the Sneak Attack version :)

Omniscience definitely has some better options, like casting any Leylines even if they're not in your opening hands, and no more drawback for a free Force of Will :)
