im pretty new to the game and started building decks a couple of months ago. i finally finished posting all of the decks on here. i pretty much learned how to build on my own. just trial and error, playing with a few friends here and there, so i have just been taking a stab at it and hope they turn out all right. but i was hoping to get some tournament action going. so i was wondering if anyone could help with adding/removing cards from my decks. here is my profile site curious_geo90. just post any comments and suggestions on the deck site comments board. any help is appreciated. thank you.

it is good to work on one deck at a time so post what deck you want to play first and start from there. also most tourney decks run around 200 but that number can go as high as 500 with the price of certain cards and can also go lower with certain decks too. so like I said post the deck you want to work on and your budget you have in mind and we will do all we can to help.

If you're working with a limited collection, it's probably not a good idea to jump right into Standard or any other constructed format right now. The barrier to entry for Standard is exorbitantly high compared to where it was in the previous few years. Honing your deckbuilding skills should be a higher priority for the time being. After that, expand your collection to include some more powerful cards. Generally, I advise buying the cards you need to build a deck rather than opening packs and hoping to crack or trade for what you need. If you can't afford that route, you're going to need to get creative to build a competitive deck. Rakdos, Golgari, or Jund aggro could work.

As a general guideline, you should try to include playsets of cards rather than using one or two copies of everything. A deck with a lot of copies of a few different cards is naturally more consistent than a deck with a few copies of a lot of different cards.
Occasionally, you will find that that rule doesn't apply; however, it's a pretty reliable starting point.
