How can I improve a Intro Deck?

I'm a complete noob at MTG. I played some TCGs with my girlfriend then bought two intro decks as x-mas gift to play with her. And this was Love at first sight for both of us, MTG is awesome !

I wish improve our decks, but as casual players don't wanna spend a lot of money with it. Could you guys give some advices?
