How do I get more views/comments/ratings on my decks?
Deck Help forum

I use the "deckcycle" option and occasionally ask for comments in this forum, but nobody ever bites. Then I see other decks from players that look to be new (like myself) and people are generally helpful to them, and they get tons of views. Am I doing something wrong, or do my decks just all suck? o_O
I agree with mossflower 100%. Do those 3 things and comment on other people's decks and ask them to do the same and you'll have a lot of feedback in no time. For my deck I aggressively solicited input on my deck while providing invaluable feedback on others' decks leading to a win-win situation 8D

heres my issue with people only commenting based on these assumptions people who are new to magic and therefore this site will ultimately recieve much less feedback then say people like leafssuck and epocolyptic because they havent been in the game long enough to figure out unique combos and dont have a stable fan base from the community on this site what about thoose people because I try to comment on thoose decks because no one else will, also you have to be lucky that you dont get a string of people posting there deck at the same time ive had it where i posted a deck and so may people posted theirs in the same short time frame that my deck cycled off the main page in less than a minute. these are unseen factors and can really hurt your chances of getting views comments votes and the like. my only opinion is do the same three things that they said above but also be persistant if you give up half way it wont make a difference but if you stay persistant then you will get more views and hopefully comments and if you get enough comments and make sutible changes to your deck you will eventually get votes but only if you keep posting.

Usually I offer to comment on their deck if they post a comment on mine; however it seems I could just make a blatant troll deck (see Mana Flood), and get all the upvotes, views, and comments I would ever want.

Spoofed, The thing is that masterpeez (troll that he is) actually does an excellent job of following those three guidelines. Yes, his decks are ridiculous, but he presents them in such a comical and attention-grabbing manner that people actually respond to it. That's the point I was trying to make with the bullet list: make your deck stand out. I'd also be willing to bet quite a bit that masterpeez deckcycles his deck on a frequent basis.

Well, I try for interesting names - maybe not funny or attention grabbing, but interesting and relevant. My descriptions are usually straightforward, unless the deck is self-explanatory and I don't really need one - but maybe I ought to put one anyways.
I guess my biggest problem is that I'm new to the game so I have a hard time coming up with unique deck ideas or card combos : Most of the time I tend to stick with already-developed archetypes and construct them in my own way.
Thanks for the tips though!

Being in active in the forums also helps get your name out there. Typically anyone who posts on my decks (even if its just a: Hey great deck +1), I'll go through and check out their decks. Also what everyone else said as well.

Things I've noticed that help:
1) Having an interesting name. This may seem a bit superficial, but if people glance at the decks on the home page and see one with a name that stands out, they're more likely to click on it and check it out.
2) Good deck description. Having a straight-forward description of what you're deck sets out to do and how allows people to provide more appropriate advice.
3) Have a unique deck concept. If they think the deck is really cool and unique, that's when they +1 and comment.
These are all abstract and subjective, though. More importantly, the best way to garner attention for your deck is just rigourous deck-cycling and providing comments on other people's deck and asking they do the same. This may seem a bit forward, but as long as you're polite and constructive in your comments, most people would leave their own comments back.
