What title says, because I need to have a better idea of how many of a card I should put in the sideboard.

There really is no set best way to do it. It all comes down to your meta. If half of the players in your area are playing reanimator, people playing white decks might play 4 Purify the Grave or something similar in their sideboards. Rarely do you see 4 of something in a sideboard though.

Depends on how bad the match-up is or how backbreaking that specific card will be to the other deck.
Different styles of decks often effect the numbers as well. Aggro frequently runs 3-4 of for it's sideboard because the plan is still to beatdown with creatures. So it's just siding out a few cards for better ones
Where as control has to be all over the place sometimes in order to answer a bunch of different threats. However control typically has the means to dig for said cards. Control often has the higher likelihood of having dead cards in the match-up and thus wants a diverse sideboard.

It really depends on the card, and on how many of it I think I need to be effective in a metagame. Generally I tend to use MORE of cards that are generally useful against a lot of possible decks (like for instance Essence Scatter ), and fewer cards that are super specialized.

sides board cards are things that sway the way your deck functions to deal with seperate threats. Sometimes you sideboard a that is a copy of a card that is already in your deck, but you have more of if you think it will help your deck
something you need to ask yourself when putting together a sideboard is: What strategy can my opponent use to completely destroy me?
