How important is life gain in a W/R control deck?

I am building a W/R control deck with clerics and Manabarbs , called Clericbarbs. I am unsure if I should take out Soul Warden for more control/defensive cards, replace Soul Warden with another life gain strategy, or leave it how it is. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
