How many Brainstorms?

I'm playing only 4 fetchlands in a 2 color deck, and already have a playset of Ponders. At the moment I'm running 2 Brainstorms (down from 4) but will consider dropping it down to 1 if it's mathematically worth it.
I'm running Foil and Daze. (Force of Will is too expensive) More fetchlands means less synergy. If anything I would cut the 4 that I have and just play Back to Basics. If Brainstorm is seriously that insane I guess I could just play Counterspell and autolose to turn 1 combos.

Just...don't run Foil. Foil doesn't even do a bad FoW impression. Accept that you lose to Oops all the spells and belcher, play good cards. Brainstorm is the most powerful card in Legacy by a mile.

if you're in blue it's always wrong to play less than 4 Brainstorm

Yeah...Brainstorm is always a 4-of if you're playing it. The only reason to not play 4 is if you're a blue deck built around Chalice of the Void.
Up your fetch count, even if it means playing off-color fetches.

4 brainstorms, +4 fetches. No foil, maybe Misdirection is a better FoW replacement? It catches all counterspells, and when countering removal its often better than FoW

You run more fetches and more Brainstorm. Easy. Brainstorm is the most powerful spell in your deck.
