How strong can Chavest Vampires be?

Deck Help forum

I've been thinking about acquiring the cards I would need to build this concept for casual and Standard play.

Stromkirk Captain should be the glue for my other vampires, while also including Blood Baron of Vizkopa and/or Sorin, Lord of Innistrad .

What do you think I need for this deck and could it be both fun and competitive for FNM?

BWR has the best suite of removal, so pulling into the late game with powerful vampires like Olivia Voldaren , Bloodline Keeper  Flip , and Vampire Nighthawk is a great strategy for an FNM environment if you play a lot of removal to get you to that point.

Don't forget that Vampire Nocturnus is also currently in standard, so you can make a base-black deck and have all your R/W spells be black also (Dreadbore , Tithe Drinker , and the vampires you brought up).

Yes, I was thinking of building around a core of blackness with red and white wings. >=D

As for using Vampire Nocturnus , I don't think he'd fit well because of the triple black in his mana cost. Olivia Voldaren however would be boss in this, though I wouldn't purchase more than one if I was serious about her, because I not rich. Hmmm...Olivia and the Blood Baron might be fun to pair together. >=

I was wondering if having a 2-of or 3-of Ring of Xathrid would be potent in a deck like this since all of my creatures have such black hearts. >=]

He would fit well. Ideally all your lands would tap for black, as you would have all the duals, and he pumps every single one of your creatures (as lont as you are using a base black deck, which you should be :) ). Don't bother with the rings, they are too slow.

So what non-creature spells should I run?

I'm sure Dreadbore and Blind Obedience would be a likely inclusion if I can get the money for them. Hmmm...I might need to look for some odd-jobs to earn the cash for that.

Blind Obedience is iffy..it's not base black.

Perhaps as a sideboard card against aggro then?

Would Mizzium Mortars be a strong removal option?

I'm going to build something random, and see if you like it XD

Here I mad this quick, it needs to be fine-tuned a lot I'm guessing. Everything is black except for Stromkirk Noble because he is such a boss.

What's black, white, and red all over?

Hope it helps.

I forgot to mention that Madcap Skills is high on the list for enchantments in this deck, while Gift of Orzhova comes in at a modest second place.
