How to deal with Path to Exile

Deck Help forum

Hello. I am building budget Aura deck on modern and I have one serious problem. I have no response on cheap removing spells like Path to Exile , and the same problem is with my aura enchantments and spells like Naturalize .

Otherwise this deck works pretty well. I can do really serious damage in third turn by Kor Spiritdancer or Invisible Stalker , equipped by one-mana enchantments. Spiritdancer can be in 3rd turn something like 9/11 with totem armor, so anything I fear are these removal spells or second-turn counters, which both we can see in Modern quite often.

Well, I hope that I have provided enough of informations for giving you sufficient overview.

Thanks a lot for any suggestions, ideas, or feedback.

P.S: And please, excuse my english, it is not my native language :)

If you're using invisible stalker that means you are running blue. If you are running blue it might be advisable to use Spell Pierce .

What you wan is hexproof/shroud.

Cards like Privileged Position , Asceticism , Canopy Cover , Greater Auramancy , and Diplomatic Immunity (though probably not modern) will do, as well as equipment such as Mask of Avacyn , Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots , and Whispersilk Cloak .

Now, these won't help you if they aren't using abilities that target. If so, you might be looking for Indestructibility or Shield of the Oversoul .

And there's always just plain counterspells if you are running blue.

Hope this helps.

Gladecover Scout and Slippery Bogle are used for the competitive version of a spirit dancer aura deck.

Yeah, more cheap hexproof and more cheap counters. Modern is a big list of cards, and there is quite simply a lot of awesome removal. If you don't have any protection you're going to get blown out on 2,3 for 1s over and over.

Turn Aside and Dispel are the best answers to Path to Exile , though they are incredibly narrow.

Oh, thanks a lot to everyone, these advises were very helpful. Slippery Bogle and Turn Aside will certainly find a room in the main deck. I am also concidering Mental Misstep , because on 2nd - 5th turn I have mostly all lands tapped, so the 2life counterspell can be very usefull.

Anyway, I appriciate yours advises a I am glad for them.

Thanks

Hmm, I thought it is banned only on Legacy, thanks for the objection....
