How to Survive the early game
Deck Help forum

I've built an experimental reanimator deck called deck:what-kind-of-a-deck-izzet built around the Gisela, Blade of Goldnight /Malignus interaction. Once Malignus can attack I want to reanimate Gisela, and cast Teleportal allowing Malignus to punch them out...
How do I survive that long in the current standard?

I had contemplated using Defy Death but I like the chance to play it for four.
The deck is deck:what-kind-of-a-deck-izzet

It might be nice to not have to splash black though.

It's gonna cost you a lot of life to have all of those shocklands enter untapped every turn. That definitely won't keep you in the game for very long.
It seems like you might want to drop black to make this a little more manageable. You might want to mix up your dual lands a little bit by adding some of the Innistrad/M13 lands.

It's probably best to use Defy Death then isn't it? Just need the full playset then.

Since you have the colors for it, how about throwing in a couple Supreme Verdict s? or Terminus in case you want to miracle to get rid of Aggro decks as early as possible.

If I use Izzet Charm to loot on their turn, and I draw Terminus , do I get to miracle cast it even though I've drawn two cards due to Izzet Charm's effect? My gut says yes, because each draw is a separate entity...but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.
Board wipers are a must, I was looking at Bonfire of the Damned but Supreme Verdict and Terminus don't hurt the wallet so much. Good call.

If you use Izzet Charm on your opponents turn, a Miracle spell can still be triggered.
However, It must still be the FIRST of the 2 cards you draw. As such, when using something that lets you draw multiple cards, you need to be sure to draw one at a time.
Look at the first card you draw, if it's a miracle and you want to miracle cast it, reveal it to your opponent before drawing the second.
After drawing the second, and then discarding, you can cast the miracle card (assuming you didn't discard it.)

I believe as soon as you draw it (as long as it's the first card you drew that turn, of course) you can play it off turn. Not entirely sure though. You might wanna ask in the Q&A for a definite answer. Also Cyclonic Rift wouldn't be bad in case you have non-creature permanent problems..(Oblivion Ring , Detention Sphere , planeswalkers).

Cyclonic Rift is indeed a good choice. I'm leaning to more bounce and fewer counters, I'm not really a counter control kind of player anyway.

If you draw Terminus as the first card after casting Izzet Charm and it's your opponent's turn, then the miracle cost and activation occurs and you may cast it immediately. This is how the Miracles deck functions.

I've fiddled with the deck a little, eventually adding my Silverblade Paladin s in. They have good synergy with both the snapcasters and Malignus . Now I'm wondering if I should put in a flicker or bounce effec instead of Supreme Verdict .

How do you plan on reanimating her? Unburial Rites ? or Defy Death ? orsomething else? it will help determine the colors.
