i was wondering if bant birthing pod could be a thing in modern. i know kiki jiki and melira pod decks are better but i don't have the money for those decks. so could i do bant birthing pod and could i do under $200? if not what are good modern decks for under $200? thank you

Bant auras is a really cheap, easy deck from what I hear. You basically have creatures like Slippery Bogle and Gladecover Scout and give them things like Rancor , Daybreak Coronet and Spirit Mantle . Couldn't give any advice on your bant birthing pod though.

Erm Affinity is right around 200, its a consistent deck and the parts are simi easy to get ahold of

Bant Pod would require 4x goyf lol not that budget

But with finks, birds, hierarch, some disruption (clique?), and so forth I think it could work.

@Jp3ngu1nb0y: Why would Bant Pod need Tarmogoyf ? Every version of Pod plays green already, but none of them play the goyf. It doesn't have an ETB effect or anything when it leaves play.

As far as the deck itself, I think the shell would involve Melira, Sylvok Outcast , Eternal Witness , Kitchen Finks , Wall of Roots , and Glen Elendra Archmage .

The start of something like that may look like:

2x Melira, Sylvok Outcast
1x Eternal Witness
4x Kitchen Finks
4x Wall of Roots
1x Glen Elendra Archmage
3x Noble Hierarch
1x Spellskite
1x Qasali Pridemage
1x Phyrexian Metamorph
--------------------------------------------------
18 Creatures

4x Birthing Pod
3x Chord of Calling
--------------------------------------------------
7 Other Spells

23 Lands

Mostly because goyf and blue are best friends, haha. Blue fills the yard fast.

Seems like blue wouldn't do much for the archetype. It's a creature-based, synergy-driven midrange deck, not really the sort of thing blue does or helps. Really the only creature that fits is Glen Elendra, which you could technically just run anyways with BOP and Noble.

Before I start spouting off <$200 decks let me ask you this: Are you a control player, a combo player, or a aggro player? There are decks that can fit every aspect of modern for about that much.

i could also add a few Venser, the Sojourner for interactions with all the etb. maybe even add Stonehorn Dignitary or something to the deck for a more controlling aspect.

Control is typically Tron (Tron comes in two varities: UTron like I Fight For the Users! and R/GTron like Tron: Legacy... just kidding, Modern), Gifts Ungiven type control, and the rock.

Combo is typically Pod like iPod Combo, Twin Exarch, Storm, and scapeshift.

Out of those Utron is very budget friendly as is Storm. There is also an offshoot of storm that uses Blistercoil Weird which can be very budget friendly but dies pretty hard to removal. (I Wash My Hands Of This Weirdness for reference.)

You can play U/R Storm in Modern without fetches. The deck is still really strong since it's only two colors. They're not as essential as a deck like Ajani Jund, where you'll need to be able to pay for Liliana of the Veil one turn, then cast Ajani Vengeant the next.

Bant Birthing Pod could be a thing for FNM if you wanted it to be. However, it doesn't really have a sac outlet like Melira Pod so you can't combo kill them like that. This means, what you have is a syngestic midrange deck with a value engine.
