i need help on making my first EDH deck

i have never made an EDH deck before and i just slapped one together and im looking for ideas an help on making a mono white commander deck im trying to center it around life gain and tapping down creatures

If you are looking for a mono white general that can gain you life, then you might want to look at either Atalya, Samite Master, Gerrard Capashen, or Patron of the Kitsune.
Straight life gain by itself is not necessarily a strong strategy in EDH though, due to combos or having your opponents gang up on you overcoming your ability to gain life.
A good compromise might be to look at a token/lifelink combination. You could run Kemba, Kha Regent or Darien, King of Kjeldor backed by cards like Angelic Chorus, True Conviction, and Windbrisk Raptor.
If you are willing to add a second color, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is good for both tokens and life gain. The green would be useful because being able to mana ramp into your larger spells before your opponent can is a real advantage in EDH. Green also adds some better card draw engines, which mono white EDH decks don't have a lot of.

Building an EDH Deck from Epochalyptik is a good start for reading.
If you're looking for lifegain commander: Eight-and-a-Half-Tails, Orim, Samite Healer is a decent cleric themed lifegain deck.
Linvala, Keeper of Silence is strong, angel subtheme could be interesting.
Patron of the Kitsune could be a fun commander to build around.
Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant is gonna generate lots of hate, be careful with politics.

i already have the deck made but its just kind of a rough draft lol and i already have Gerrard Capashen as my commander and im thinking about adding a second color im either gonna go with green or blue idk yet

My friend runs Darien, King of Kjeldor as his general alongside Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, and Suture Priest to make him very hard to kill. It punishes people for attacking him by playing global buffs like Honor of the Pure, Angel of Jubilation and Crovax, Ascendant Hero so the soldiers come out ready to deal more damage back to whoever attacked him.
If you are thinking about adding in a color, you could actually run Treva, the Renewer. He incorporates both of the colors you are thinking about adding, does some lifegain himself, can swing for general damage with evasion, and is a fun throwback to the roots of EDH.

If you really want to go for a life gain strategy with your deck I would recommend adding black to your deck. It will give you access to a lot of draining effects such as Exsanguinate, Death Grasp, Exquisite Blood, etc. Ghost Council of Orzhova or Obzedat, Ghost Council would both make good generals for that style.

If you go white/black Vizkopa Guildmage is a fun card and Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter could be another possible general.

treva the renewer looks awesome lol but i already have most of the cards you mentiond kirtanian i have darien king of kildjo and others you said to i just need some good tutor cards though but i dont really know what specific ones to get
