Deck Help forum

It seems like Standard, Extended, Modern, and Legacy all have their top tier decks, and anything else just doesn't compare.
I wanna play Parallel Lives , i wanna play Burning Vengeance . I can't play these because of things like Wolf Run Ramp. If it isn't as good, it isn't good at all.
My question to you all is, is EDH a more variable format? If I can't play what I WANT to play and still have fun, I'm gonna stick to MMORPGS and leave Magic alone.

I'm a net decker, money and meta's don't matter.
I'm talking about its worldwide variety. I can't play what I want because everyone plays what's good, so can I expect the same with EDH?

I have yet to see the same EDH decks. Captain Sissay is a typical general i've noticed, always an op general. But other than that everything is viable.

The only really competitive EDH general I've seen is Zur the Enchanter . Other than that, combo's, instant-win's, and infinite loops are much more rare in EDH. It is a casual game that you can use almost anything you want. True, there are cards out there that will make any EDH deck better and are considered 'competitive', but for the most part, no two EDH decks are identical.

Are you trying to play in tournaments, or just casual?
I've been playing for many years, and as someone who sticks to casual play among friends, I've always been able to build whatever decks I want and still have them stand up to most any opponent (regardless of format). Sure, you occasionally get stomped by a deck, but it's pretty uncommon to have a completely one sided match up.
If you are wanting to play in a competitive tournament type setting, I would find it hard to believe that one person/deck always wins. There are so many combos and deck ideas out there, that no matter how great a deck seems to be, you can always come up with something that will counter balance it. If nothing else, make a deck you want to play, and side board cards that will destroy the decks you think everyone is playing. Then, you can play what you want and be competitive.

I actually hate net decker my self, it seems like they have no originality at all. They watch the pros, see what works, than just buy the individual cards. They don't really take the time to test things out or fine tune it, they miss out on the fun of the build. my deck is a variant of a type out there G/W tokens with Parallel Lives , but I put my fav creatures into it, made it fun dor me: What can Myr do for you!? It is actually pretty competitive, it took down a default top tier U/B control deck. When every one runs the same thing, there is no unusual challenge or fun it becomes the same old same old. No one deck is unstoppable. Of course it all comes down to what is being played in your local area, but if you want to run a crazy deck idea than do it! It just takes that one crazy spark to make it fun, all these cookie cutter decks are strong yes, but they are all the same inherently, very rarely do the people who buy them decide to make it their own a lil bit. so make something your own, even if it does follow an archetype and you could be shocked at what the end result is, and than you will start to have fun. :)

Depends on your local area. (Talking about EDH). If it is more competitive, I would stay away from it. And it does cost the most money out of any format, besides vintage. (If you want a good deck).
