It's a deck ive been meaning to build and wanting to work out but haven't really had the time to do so...
Any suggestions on auto-includes to the deck?
I have a feeling it's going to need more than 24 lands. Probably going to use a lot of utility lands too...
I'd like to include a few quirky win-cons for 2 reasons...
1, the oddball bombs in standard are a lot cheaper to acquire
2, i'm tired of seeing the same big threats being tossed about standard. I want the deck to highlight that there are other viable creatures and threats besides Thragtusk , huntmaster and hellkite.
I'm considering running Rest in Peace mainboarded. It'll be a lot better for me if the opponent's resources in the grave are nullified while all I'd need to rely on is what's in-hand and on-field.

I was just thinking it through because of gatecrash...
And i completely get the whole flashback thing, though it does mean that i can recur Misthollow Griffin as often as i want, and i think it's more important that i take away the advantages my opponents have and leave the rest of the deck not to rely on flashback and graveyard shennanigans and build around this "non-reliance" idea...

You mention standard threats, but i want to point out that going Modern can be MUCH more fun when running 5c Deck. Cascade effects are great, more so when the last spell used after a series of Cascade cards is a Storm effect, like Grapeshot .
If you're going standard; Chromatic Lantern is the only thing to REALLY prevent you from getting color-screwed. If you don't use it, you'll need tons of special lands, which 20 of those can easily cost you over $180 (Shocks and duals) and even w/ Chromatic Lantern , there's not a 100% promise you'll draw it.. So you need a good amount of special lands and i'd say a minimum of 3 Lanterns...
If you're going Modern (which i'd suggest); Prismatic Omen , which is the most expensive, Chromatic Lantern is still an option, and the cheapest is Joiner Adept , which is a 2/1 body so it has downfalls.
Not to mention everyone's favorite Birds of Paradise , which'll allow you to get that single any-color, so if a spell isn't very color-specific, you can cast it w/out the land. For instance you have a Breeding Pool , a Overgrown Tomb , and a Forest on the field w/ Birds of Paradise , you can play Restoration Angel to save some cheap creature that you might need for a combo or whatever... Of course that's just one example, but having the ability to tap a creature for any color comes in handy more than one might think.
If you stay Standard, i'd say 5c would be very difficult and very expensive.. So best of luck to you if you do. Just watch your wallet.

And with the above conversation; Rest in Peace will take out many options for you, but many people often think "Man, i hate the fact that i could only use that once", so they fall in love with Grave Involvement. If you base your deck around the idea that you won't need your graveyard, Rest in Peace will help you a lot. Combined w/ Supreme Verdict , you'll even get rid of annoyances like card:Geralf's Messenger, b/c Undying requires them to hit the graveyard first.
So if you throw in Rest in Peace , just remember that it's in the deck.

hmm well card:Alchemist's Refuge seems like a must, as well as Chromatic Lantern for mana fixing. If you take the graveyard out of the equation, then that means no flashback spells for you, which takes Think Twice , Forbidden Alchemy , Snapcaster Mage , and many other control options out of the running. The Defender Infinite Mana Combo is too slow even for control decks to set up. I think it would be better to wait to see what Gatecrash has to offer in 3 weeks before attempting something like this, but that's just my opinion.
